Incident Activity April 1-7

Monday, April 1

Responded to a grass fire in the 6000 block of W Cty Road 4.
The crew knocked down the fire while several homeowners used a bobcat and
garden hoses to control the fire spread. Fire was marked under control, then
the crews mopped up all the hot spots.

Wednesday, April 3

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the Berthoud Living Center
for a medical.

BFPD was dispatched along with TVEMS for a lift assist in
the 1000 block of Hollyberry Street.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to TCP Parkway for a dive rescue
incident. The victim and his dog were out of the lake when the crew arrived. The
victim was evaluated and the scene was secured.

Thursday, April 4

Citizen assist for smoke detectors in the 800 block of
Humbolt Peak. The crew replaced the battery in one smoke detector that was too
high for the homeowner to reach. Squad 11 also looked at the resident’s fire
extinguishers and recommended they be replaced because of age.

Friday, April 5

BFPD responded along with TVEMS in the 4000 block of East
View Drive for a diabetic problem. TVEMS established patient care and utilized
the crew to assist with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the intersection of Mountain Avenue
and 10th Street for a traffic accident involving a motorcycle vs
car. Larimer Cty Sheriff was standing with the motorcycle rider. The other
involved vehicle had left the scene. TVEMS treated and released the patient and
the crew assisted with traffic while the Deputy finished his investigation.

Saturday, April 6

BFPD was dispatched to the 2000 block of TPC Parkway for a
fall victim. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport
to a local hospital.

BFPD responded to the 700 block of Live Oak Court for a
medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the
patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 3000 block of Meining Road
for a sick person. TVEMS arrived on scene and patient care was transferred to
them. The patient was loaded for transport to a local hospital.

Sunday, April 7

BFPD was dispatched to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Incident Activity April 8-14

Monday, April 8

BFPD responded to the 1000 block of Weld Cty Road 46 for a
single vehicle rollover with no injuries. The vehicle had minor damage, and all
parties were out of the vehicle. No hazards were found, and units waited for
Colorado State Patrol to arrive.

BFPD was dispatched to the intersection of Berthoud Parkway
and Grand Market Avenue for a 2- vehicle accident. Both vehicles had minor
damage. One person was transported.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 1000 block of Chokeberry
Street for a fall victim. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with
loading of the patient for transport.

Tuesday, April 9

BFPD responded to the 400 block of Cheyenne Drive for a fall
victim. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was loaded and transported
to a local hospital. 

Wednesday, April 10

BFPD responded to the intersection of Hwy 287 and W. Cty
Road 8 for a rolled over tractor trailer. Larimer Cty Sheriff was on scene and
controlling traffic. There were two other vehicles in the intersection, both
with moderate damage. One person was transported, and the crew mitigated the
fluid that had drained onto the ground. All units remained on scene for traffic
control while the tow truck righted the tractor trailer and finished cleaning
up. Cdot was on scene to repair the damaged traffic signal.

Berthoud Fire assisted Larimer Cty Sheriff by spraying the
snow out of the signal lights at Hwy 287 and Berthoud Parkway.

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 600 block of Valley
View Road for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with
loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 1000 block of 4th
Street for a fall victim. The crew, along with TVEMS assisted in getting the
patient up. No other care was provided by on-scene personnel.

Thursday, April 11

False alarm in the 2000 block of 1st Street. The
fire alarm company confirmed a false alarm, but needed help resetting the
system. The crew assisted with the reset.

Friday, April 12

Citizen assist in the 800 block of Marshall for a
malfunctioning smoke detector. The crew removed two inoperative detectors. The
homeowner was going to replace the detectors.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 1000 block of Chokeberry
Street for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with
loading of the patient for transport.

Saturday, April 13

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 600 block of 6th
Street for diabetic problem. TVEMS arrived and started an IV for sugar. Once
the patient became coherent, command was transferred to TVEMS.

BFPD responded to the 4000 block of S. Arthur Avenue for
heart problems. The crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport to
a local hospital.

Sunday, April 14

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 1000 block of 1st Street for breathing problems. TVEMS transported the patient to a local hospital.

Incident Activity April 15-21

Tuesday, April 16

BFPD responded to the 4000 block of Rosewood Drive for an 83-year-old
man having chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 1000 block of 4th
Street for back pain. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with
loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to the 800 block of Humboldt Peak for chest
pains. The patient was sitting in her bed. The crew got a set of baseline vital
signs and care was transferred to TVEMS and assisted the patient to the cot.

Public education session at Ivy Stockwell Elementary School.
Taught 3rd grade classes about Strap and snap program. The class is about bike
helmet safety.

BFPD was dispatched to the 500 block of Valley View Drive
for breathing problems. TVEMS handled patient care and she was assisted to the
cot and transported to a local hospital.

Wednesday, April 17

Berthoud Fire responded to the 3000 block of W. Cty Road 4
for a cut gas line. The crew met with the landscape company who was putting in
a sprinkler system. They stated that while putting in trenches for sprinkler
lines, they struck a 1” service gas line to the house. The house was evacuated,
and Excel arrived on scene. Excel located the line and clamped it, stopping the
flow. The crew checked the house one last time for elevated levels, but all was
cleared.

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to S. Lincoln Avenue for a
2-vehicle accident with light damage and no injuries. The crew assisted with
traffic control and hazards until the tow trucks had removed the vehicles from
the roadway.

BFPD responded to the 600 block of Great Basin Court for a 3-year-old
locked inside of a vehicle. Later the keys were found in a grocery bag inside
the house. The keys were used to unlock the car and the crew retrieve the
child.

Berthoud Engine 1 was requested for emergency services at
Apple Leaf assisted living home. The crew arrived along with TVEMS, to
transport an 89-year-old woman complaining of severe pain from osteoporosis.

Thursday, April 18

BFPD responded to the intersection of Hwy 56 and County Line
Road for a 2-vehicle accident. One vehicle had moderate front end damage and the
other vehicle had heavy driver side and front-end damage. The crew stopped all
fluid leaks and electrical to the vehicles and assisted Larimer County Sheriff’s
deputies with traffic control till their investigation of the crash was
complete.

Friday, April 19

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 1000 block of Gaucho
Court for a woman with back pain. The patient was loaded and taken to a local
hospital.

Saturday, April 20

Public Education presentation at the First Methodist Church
located at 9th and Lake Street. Berthoud Engine 1 crew talked about
fire safety and showed the attendees the fire truck.

Berthoud Fire dispatched to the scene of a large cottonwood
tree burning in the 22000 block of Weld Cty road 5. Crews extinguished the fire.

BFPD responded to the 300 block of Hubbell Street for a sick
person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the
patient for transport. 

Sunday, April 21

Berthoud Fire responded for a lift assist in the 400 block
of Lakritz Avenue. The crew assisted the paramedic in getting the patient to
his feet and seated.

Station 2 responded to the intersection of Larimer County
Road 23 and Larimer County Road 8. The crew located a motorcycle down, with the
with the rider sitting up. A van was discovered in the ditch approx. 100 yards
from the motorcycle. TVEMS assumed patient care and the motorcycle rider was
transported. The scene was turned over to Colorado State Patrol.

BFPD responded to the 4000 block of Gary Drive for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Incident Activity April 22-28

Monday, April 22

BFPD
responded to the 23000 block of Weld Cty Road 3 for a vehicle fire. This was a
fully involved vehicle, the crew quickly knocked down the fire. There were no
occupants in the vehicle at the time. The fire most likely started in the
engine compartment. Since the vehicle was on private property and not involved
in a crash Weld Cty Sheriff would not be investigating the fire. Engine 1
packed up their gear and returned to quarters.

BFPD was
dispatched to Hwy 60 for a single vehicle accident that sheared off a power
pole. The pick-up truck had moderate damage with no injuries to the occupant.
Colorado State Patrol took command and Excel responded to the scene to deal
with power line issues. The tow truck arrived and pulled the pick-up out of the
ditch.

Wednesday, April 24

Berthoud
Squad 11 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Thursday, April 25

BFPD responded
to I-25 mm 251 NB for a 4-vehicle accident including a semi-truck. All four
vehicles had light damage with no injuries. The crew assisted Colorado State
Patrol with moving the drivers and cars to the Loaf n jug for their
investigation.

Berthoud Fire
responded to Fox Crossing Place for a cut gas line. The crew assisted Excel
with fire control mitigation while they clamped the line.

Friday, April 26

BFPD
responded to the 900 block of 5th Street for back pain. TVEMS
assumed patient care, the crew assisted with loading of the patient for
transport.

Berthoud
Fire was dispatched to the 1000 block of Berthoud Parkway for traumatic
injuries. The patient stated severe pain in his right leg. The patient was
placed on the cot and transported to a local hospital.

Saturday, April 27

BFPD
responded to the tennis courts at Berthoud High School for a seizure. The crew
assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Sunday, April 28

BFPS was
dispatched along with TVEMS for a motorcycle crash on Hwy 287. Very strong
winds had started shortly prior to the alarm. A single motorcycle driver had
been blown into the guardrail and sustained injuries. TVEMS assumed command and
the patient was loaded and transported to a local hospital.

Berthoud
Fire along with TVEMS responded to the 500 block of Redwood Place for a fall
victim. The crew assisted with moving her up the stairs and getting her loaded
for transport.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the SE Frontage Road for an emergency medical service. The crew located a man who had crashed his car off the east side of the interstate and came to rest on the frontage road. TVEMS assessed the man and eventually transported him.

Incident Activity April 29-30

Monday, April 29

Berthoud Engine was requested by a homeowner to assist with
a CO detector that had activated and then gone silent. The crew removed it from
the ceiling to inspect it. They replaced the battery and cleaned it and then
checked its operation. The detector was behaving normally, so explained our
actions to the homeowner and returned to quarters.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 600 block of Pyramid Peak
Street for a citizen assist for a smoke detector replacement. 

Tuesday, April 30

BFPD responded to the intersection of Hwy 287 and Hwy 56 for
a 3-vehicle accident involving a semi-crane and 2 vehicles. One of the vehicles
was in the ditch on the west side of Hwy 287. Both vehicles had to have
extrication done to remove the drivers. One patient was transported to a local
hospital.

Larimer Cty Sheriff requested an apparatus to come out and
spray down the scene of an earlier accident. The apparatus sprayed the
intersection down to remove traffic hazards.
