Incident Activity – August 2017

 

Tuesday, August 1

Berthoud Fire responded to the 2600 block of Pheasant Run for a medical transport. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

BFPD was dispatched to the 400 block of Larimer County Road 23E for a 63-year-old man complaining of dizziness. The crew assisted with vitals and patient history from patient’s wife. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Wednesday, August 2                     

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the 2000 block of Crestridge Drive for abdominal pain. The crew assisted TVEMS in lifting the patient to the ambulance. Special care was taken to not disturb his abdomen.

Thursday, August 3

Citizen assist in the 800 block of Mt. Massive Street. The homeowner stated that one detector was going off because of a low battery. The crew helped to replace the batteries in all the detectors just to make sure.

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to I-25 mm 259 SB for a motor vehicle accident. Colorado State Patrol reported that it was a non-injury accident.

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to I-25 mm 249 NB for a motor vehicle accident. TVEMS stated per Colorado State Patrol Engine 1 could cancel.

Friday, August 4

A walk-in to Station 1 for a struck ring removal. Captain used twine and removed the three rings.

Berthoud Engine responded to the 2700 block of Lake Hallow for a structure fire. The crew checked the structure. After inspecting the 2nd floor and attic space the crew determined that the house had been struck by lightning and burned up a television wire, no fire was found.

Saturday, August 5

Station 1 received a phone call requesting assistance for a dog locked in a vehicle at the 2800 block of Coyote Ridge Drive. Engine 2 found a yellow lab locked in a truck. The crew was able to reach in the partially open window to manually open the door, and free the dog. The dog appeared healthy, and was returned to his owner.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to a grass/wildland fire in the area of 6300 block of City Lights Lane. The crew found a 5’x5” manure/yard waste fire, smoldering in the middle of a field. The crew met with the homeowner who stated that she was unaware that a burn permit was required for open burning. Engine 26 assisted the homeowner with extinguishing the fire. Once mop-up of the fire was completed, the homeowner was educated regarding how to obtain a burn permit and what types of materials she would be permitted to burn in the future.

Sunday, August 6

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD responded to the 300 block of Hubbell Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care. Larimer County Sheriff arrived and command was transferred to them.

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient for transport.

August 7 to 13

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to the 1500 block of S. Cty Road 15 for a male that had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging of the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to E. 2nd Street and Michigan Avenue for a woman who had fallen from raised concrete in the street. She was found lying next to the street and in pain. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport.

Wednesday, August 9

Berthoud Fire responded to the 300 block of Colorado Avenue for a man having a panic attack. Engine 1 assisted TVEMS with walking the patient to the ambulance.

Thursday, August 10

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD was dispatched to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Friday, August 11

A citizen called into station1 to report a possible illegal burn. The property was located in the 200 block of W. Cty Rd 10E. Engine 16 made contact with the homeowner and informed them that the burn was illegal. The property was within the city limits and also did not have a permit. The homeowner was instructed to put out the slash pile.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

Saturday, August 12

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 900 block of Welch Avenue for a lift assist.

A citizen walked in to the station requesting a car seat installation. The crew assisted her with installing a car seat base in her car.

August 14 to 19

Monday, August 14

Citizen assist for a car seat installation. The crew assisted a citizen with installing a car seat base in her car.

Citizen assist for a fish hook removal from a 12 year old male. The grandfather requested assistance removing a fish hook from the palm of the young man’s hand.

Tuesday, August 15

Dispatched to the 2800 block of Cooperland Blvd for a male who had passed out. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to the block of 19000 Weld Cty Road 5 for a sick person. The crew helped the patient walk to the ambulance.

Wednesday, August 16

BFPD responded to the 23000 block of Weld Cty Road 1 for a 76-year-old man who had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

A citizen came into Station 1 and requested assistance in replacing her smoke detector batteries. Squad 11 went to her house and replaced batteries in 6 smoke detectors. The smoke detectors were checked and cleared of any dust and the expiration dates were verified.

Thursday, August 17

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 300 block of Victoria Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 1300 block of 1st Street for a lift assist. The woman stated she wasn’t hurt and just need assistance into her chair.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 300 block of Weld Cty Road 48 for assistance with smoke detectors. The homeowner was unable to change the smoke detector batteries due to a recent surgery. The crew changed the batteries, tested all the smoke detectors and the system was in normal operation.

Berthoud Engine 2 responded to the 9000 block of Cottontail for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging and loading the patient into the ambulance.

BFPD responded to the 100 block of Redcloud Avenue to replace smoke detector batteries.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 500 block of S. 5th Street for a single family fire. The homeowner was out front and stated she was using the stove on broil. She opened the stove and flames came out so she proceeded to throw water on it. The crew accessed the stove and confirmed the fire was out. The house had already been opened up and natural ventilation was taking care of any smoke that was in the house. The stove and property was not damaged.

Friday, August 18

Engine 1 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 60. The accident involved a single passenger sedan and a truck with a horse trailer. The two vehicles had moderate damage. TVEMS assumed patient care, and Squad 11 waited for Colorado State Patrol to arrive. Both vehicles involved were towed.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 4100 block of High Plains Avenue for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to the 600 block of Falcon Crest Way for an 82-year-old male having back pain. TVEMS took over patient care. Patient was transported.

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Sunday, August 19

Berthoud Engine 2 was dispatched to the 4200 block of Falcon Point Court for a man having chest pains. TVEMS arrived and assumed command. Both crews assisted the patient onto the cot and he was transported.

Berthoud Engine 21 responded to the 300 block of Massachusetts for powerlines down. A downed utility pole was leaning against the west side of the old town hall. Wires were laying across the alley way, not arching and there was no fire hazard. Dispatch contacted Excel Energy and they cut the wires and dropped the pole to prevent any hazards.

Activity Incident August 21-27

Monday, August 21                                            

BFPD responded to the 4400 block of Fawn Trail for a 59-year-old female who had fallen down the stairs. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

Tuesday, August 22

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 3500 block of Cottonwood Lane for a medical. TVEMS was on scene and had command. The 79-year-old man was transported.

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to the 500 block of S. 9th Street for a person with seizures. TVEMS made contact with the homeowner, he stated the person was having a seizure. The patient asked to be transported.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 21000 block of Weld Cty Road 7, for a construction worker who had cut his hand. TVEMS made initial patient contract.

Wednesday, August 23

BFPD was dispatched to the 1400 block of Skimmer Street for a 3-month-old girl who was “turning purple”. Squad 11 arrived at the same time as TVEMS. The crew assisted the mother and the infant into the back of the ambulance. No patient contact was performed by Berthoud Fire.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 800 block of Wilshire Drive for a citizen assist. The crew found a single smoke detector beeping at the top of the stairs. The crew replaced the battery and informed the homeowner that the smoke detector was not expired.

Thursday, August 24

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Fire responded to the intersection of Larimer Cty Road 4 and Cty Road 23E for a vehicle vs a bicycle accident. A firefighter worked on traffic control, while the crew completed a rapid trauma assessment. TVEMS arrived and the patient was loaded and transported. The scene was turned over to Larimer Cty Sheriff and Colorado State Patrol.

Friday, August 25

Berthoud Fire responded to the 900 block of Kansas Avenue for a medical. Squad 11 assisted TVEMS with walking the patient to the ambulance for transport.

Saturday, August 26

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 248 SB for a 2-car motor vehicle accident. This had been a rear-end collision and one vehicle was in the median. None of the drivers were injured.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to I-25 mm 250 SB for a motor vehicle accident. The occupant stated that there were no injuries. Colorado State Patrol assumed command.

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a commercial fire. The crew met with a staff member who stated that the fire in the kitchen area was out. There had been a small cooking fire on the commercial range top that had been extinguished. There were no other threats or hazards. The crew secured the power and gas to the stove, and there was very little to no smoke in the area. Ventilation was not necessary. The Lieutenant told staff that the stove should not be used until a professional commercial appliance person examined the unit.

BFPD responded to 7th Street for a female who had fallen on the ground in front of her house. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 500 block of 9th Street for a medical. TVEMS determined transport was necessary. Squad 11 assisted with packaging and the loading of the patient.

A citizen called into the station for chirping smoke detectors. The crew was dispatched to the 100 block of Redcloud Avenue. They located the chirping CO detector, replace the batteries and no more chirping.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 3800 block of Surrey Ridge Drive for an 88-year-old man having difficulty breathing. TVEMS assumed patient care, the crew assisted with loading the patient for transport.
