Friday, March 1

Citizen assist in the 100 block of E. Colorado to replace batteries in a smoke detector.

Saturday, March 2

BFPD responded to Hwy 287 for a 2-vehicle accident with heavy damage. TVEMS assumed patient care, with 1 patient transported.  The scene was turned over to Larimer Cty Sheriff and the region went into accident alert.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 5100 block of Hwy 287 for a 2-vehicle accident with heavy damage to the rear of one passenger car. All parties refused treatment so TVEMS was cancelled. The drivers were notified that the region was on “accident alert” to exchange information and to call for a tow, since neither vehicle was blocking traffic.

Incident Activity March 4-10

 Monday, March 4

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 250 NB for a 3-motor vehicle
accident with moderate damage. All parties were out of the vehicles with
non-injuries. Engine 1 stayed on scene until Colorado State Patrol arrived.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 1000 block of Alpine
Avenue for a 73-year old male having breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient
care and the patient was loaded for transport to a local hospital.

Tuesday, March 5

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd
Street for a 56-year old female for breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient
care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD came across a 57-year old female that had fallen on
Mountain Avenue and hurt her ankle. TVEMS 
arrived on scene and the patient was loaded for transport to a local
hospital.

Wednesday, March 6

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a
medical.

BFPD was dispatched to the 1000 block of Gateway Park Drive
for a male believed to be having a stroke. TVEMS initiated care on the patient
and utilized the crew for assistance, in loading of the patient for transport.

Thursday, March 7

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a
medical.

BFPD responded to the intersection of 5th Street
and Canyonlands for an auto vs pedestrian. Upon arrival found 1 patient on the
ground being attended by a good Samaritan. TVEMS assumed patient care and the
crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport. Larimer Cty Sheriff
remained on scene to complete investigation.

Friday, March 8

BFPD responded to the Brick Oven Pizza along with Larimer
Cty Sheriff for a welfare check on the owner. The crew forced the door and
Larimer Cty Sheriff cleared the building. No one was found inside.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 700 block of 5th
Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with
loading of the patient for transport. Engine 1 cleared and went available.

BFPD responded to 42nd Avenue SE for a 2-motor
vehicle accident with moderate damage blocking traffic. TVEMS treated 1 patient
and transported another, while the crew assisted with roadway hazards and traffic.
Scene was turned over to Larimer Cty Sheriff once TVEMS transported.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 22000 Schultz Lane for a
5-year old in respiratory arrest. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew
assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Saturday, March 9

BFPD was dispatched to the 1000 block of E. Cty Road 2 for a
77-year old female having a possible stroke. TVEMS assumed patient care and the
crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 500 block of Redwood Place for an 86-year old female having chest pains. TVEMS established contact with the patient and began patient assessment. The patient was transported to a local hospital.

Incident Activity March 11-17

Monday, March 11

Citizen assist for a CO alarm that was chirping in the 900
block of Kansas Avenue. The batteries were replaced, and the alarm reset.

BFPD responded to Larimer Cty Road 21, along with Loveland
units, for a water rescue. One person had been in an overturned boat. The individual
was able to swim to shore and was stuck on the east damn of the reservoir.
Loveland units were able to gain access to the east dam via pickups. The
patient was extremely cold and was non- ambulatory. Rescue group determined
that moving the patient would be easier via boat and used the boat to transport
him to the north shore. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with
loading of the patient for transport. The crew also retrieve the patient’s boat
and equipment before leaving.

Tuesday, March 12

BFPD was dispatched to a structure fire located at Firehouse
Self Storage in Loveland. Engine 1 deployed an attack line and fought the fire.
After several more hours of overhaul, engine 1 was cleared from the fire.

BFPD responded to the 1000 block of Tipton Street for a cut
gas line north of town. A 2” line had been struck by an excavator working on a
foundation. Xcel arrived and got to work on clamping the gas line. Once the
flow of gas was stopped and the gas had dissipated the crew opened local roads.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 600 block of Lake Avenue for
a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of
the patient for transport.

BFPD responded along with TVEMS to a request for emergency
medical services at Love’s Travel Stop. The patient was quickly moved into the
ambulance and transported to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 1000 block of Monroe for
a lift assist back into bed. The crew moved the patient.

Wednesday, March 13

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 900 block of Schofield Road
for a 65-year-old man who had fainted. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew
assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to 5000 block of Hwy 287 for a single vehicle
on its side with people still inside. The crew broke out the windshield after
stabilizing the van and was able to get two passengers out safely.

BFPD was dispatched to Weld Cty Road 7 for a vehicle that
had slid off the road due to white out conditions. Several slide offs and
blocked traffic due to winter storm. The crew gave the driver a ride to Love’s
Travel Stop.

Thursday, March 14

BFPD responded to the 800 block of Longview for a gas leak
at the meter. The crew found the gas leak in the area around the meter and
turned off gas coming into the house. Xcel was called and to respond to repair.
Homeowner said he would wait for them.

Friday, March 15

BFPD responded to 100 block of 5th Street for a
sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of
the patient for transport.

Saturday, March 16

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to Love’s Travel Stop for a
man having kidney pain. TVEMS assumed patient care. The patient was transported
to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to I-25 mm 252 for 2-vehicle
accident with moderate damage, all parties are out of the vehicles. One person
was transported to a local hospital.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to I-25 mm 249 SB for a grass fire. The crew found a 50 x 20 slow moving grass fire. The crew used the pressurized water supply from the Squad and was able to extinguish all active flames.

Monday,
March 18

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway
56 and I25. There were no reported injuries.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a patient
with breathing problems on Tabor St.

Tuesday,
March 19

Engine 1 responded to a medical call on 4th
St. The scene was turned over to TVEMS.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on 2nd
St. for a worker who had sustained an injury from a forklift. The patient was
transported.

Squad 11 responded to a medical center at the Berthoud
Living Center with TVEMS. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Road 27E. The crew
assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient.

Squad 11 and TVEMS responded to an emergency medical
on Rancho Way for a diabetic patient. The patient was assessed and the crew
cleared the scene.

Wednesday,
March 20

Engine 1 responded to a patient on Mt. Massive St. The
crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to a medical call for diabetic problems
on S LCR 21. The crew assisted TVEMS with the patient care.

Thursday,
March 21

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to a motor vehicle
accident on Hwy 287. This was a single vehicle accident with no injuries
reported. The scene was turned over to LCSO.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for a
reported cardiac arrest on Martingale Drive. LCSO and TVEMS remained on scene.

Engine 2 and TVEMS were dispatched to a motor vehicle
accident in the 700 block of LCR 23E. This was an accident between a motor
vehicle and an ATV. Two persons were being attended to by bystanders. When
TVEMS arrival, they determined one person needed to be transported. The scene
was turned over to CSP.

Engine 2 responded to a medical call for cardiac
arrest on Cougar Run. The crew assisted TVEMS with medical attention. The scene
was turned over to LCSO.

BFPD responded to a commercial structure fire on Weld
County Road 7. The crew found a one-story commercial building with no visible
signs of fire. After investigating, the crew learned from a worker that they
were testing an engine that had sent sparks near flammable tanks. Once it was
determined that the fire was extinguished the fire crew cleared the scene.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Berthoud
Living Center. The patient was transported.

Friday,
March 22

Engine 2 responded for a sick person on N. LCR 27E. The
crew assisted TVEMS with medical care and loading the patient for transport.

Engine 1 responded to a medical call on Cedar Drive. The
crew assisted TVEMS and the patient was transported.

BFPD assisted a citizen on Welch Avenue with a smoke
detector.

Saturday,
March 23

Engine 1 responded to a medical call on E. CR 16. The
crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient to be transported.

BFPD responded to a reported fuel spill on LCR 4.

Sunday,
March 24

Engine 1 responded with TVEMS to a medical call at Berthoud
Living Center. The patient was transported.

Engine 2 responded with TVEMS to a medical for a
person with breathing problems on W. CR 14. The patient was assessed and then
transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle and motorcycle. A vehicle was found with minor damage and the parties out of the vehicle. The motorcycle was in the ditch and the rider was injured. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient to be transported.

Monday, March 25

BFPD responded to the 100 Bein Street for a lift assist.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the SE Frontage Road mm 247,
for a single vehicle accident roll over with heavy damage. The crew assisted
with loading of the patient for transport. No hazards of fluids were found
around the vehicle.

BFPD responded to the 200 block of Turner Avenue for a cut
gas line. The crew assisted by standing by with fire control while Xcel Energy closed
the cut line.

Tuesday, March 26

BFPD responded to the 2000 block of County Line 15 for a
fire. The crew located a double wide mobile home trailer used for storage only.
The crew was able to use a chain saw to cut thru the exterior wall to remove
smoldering debris.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 200 block of 3rd
Street for seizures. Squad 11 assisted TVEMS with loading of the patient for
transport.

BFPD responded to the 100 block of Robin Drive for a male
possible in cardiac arrest. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Wednesday, March 27

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 800 block of East County
Line Road 4 for a 72-year-old man who was bleeding from his pic line. The
patient was loading onto the cot for transport to a local hospital.

Thursday, March 28

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the intersection of Hwy 287
and Horseshoe Circle. They found a single vehicle rollover with heavy damage.
One patient was ejected and was in the field. Engine 1 assisted with patient
care along with TVEMS. The crew checked and found no hazards on the vehicle.

BFPD responded to a medical call on 4th St.

Friday, March 29

Berthoud Engine 2 was dispatched to Loveland to cover St. 1
while Loveland Fire worked a structure fire. 

Engine 1 and TVEMS responded to a medical call on 5th
St.  The crew assisted with loading the
patient to be transported.

Engine 2 responded to a medical call for diabetic problems
on S. County Road 21.  TVEMS arrived on
scene and administered medical treatment.

BFPD responded to a report of a CO alarm activating in a
home on 7th St.  The
monitoring equipment found no elevated levels of CO and the responsible party
was advised to replace the detector.

Saturday, March 30

BFPD Engine 1 and TVEMS responded to a medical call at the
Apple Leaf Assisted Care home.  The crew
assisted with loading the patient for transport.

BFPD Engine 1 responded to a report of a CO detector
activating on 2nd St.  The
crew found the detector needed new batteries. 

BFPD responded to a medical call on LCR 8.  The crew assisted the patient until TVEMS
arrived.

Engine 1 and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Elmwood
St.  The crew assisted with loading the
patient for transport.

Sunday, March 31

BFPD Engine 1 responded with Front Range Fire to a reported
structure fire on WCR 46.  An external
wood pile was on fire near a structure. 
The crew assisted with fire attack, mop up and staging the scene.

BFPD Engine 1 responded to a reported vehicle fire in a
semi-truck on the Interstate 25 frontage road. 
The fire crew found no fire, but a two-truck accident. The crew assisted
LCSO and CSP with traffic control and oil spill mop up. 

Engine 1 assisted TVEMS with a medical call on 2nd
St.  The crew assisted with loading the
patient to be transported.
