Berthoud Fire Calls: May 2019

Incident Activity May 1-May 5

Wednesday, May 1

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 800 block of Longview Drive for a 15-year old male who had fallen down the stairs. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient.

Thursday, May 2

Citizen assist in the 800 block of Welch Avenue for replacing batteries for smoke detectors. Replaced 6 smoke alarms with new batteries and wrote installation dates on batteries.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 3000 Ranch Road for a fall victim. A 90-year-old had fallen while exiting a hot tub. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to the 4000 block of S. Iowa Avenue for a fall victim. The crew assisted the patient onto the cot for transport to a local hospital.

Friday, May 3

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 1000 block of 4th Street for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to the 100 block of S. 3rd Street for a cardiac arrest. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was loaded and transported to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 2000 block of Elmwood Street for an 80-year-old woman with abdominal pain. The crew helped TVEMS in packaging the patient and loading her into the ambulance.

Saturday, May 4

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 252 NB for a single vehicle in the median with light to moderate damage. Both female parties were out of the vehicle but complaining of neck and/or back pain. TVEMS and the crew worked together to backboard the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Citizen assist to install a car seat at Station 1.

BFPD responded to the 3000 block of Tranquility Way for an 89-year-old woman experiencing slurred speech. After an evaluation, TVEMS determined transport to a local hospital was needed and family members on scene agreed. The crew assisted with packaging of the patient for transport.

BFPD was dispatched to I-25 mm 250 SB for a 2-vehicle accident. TVEMS treated 2 patients on scene, 1 refused transport and the other was taken to a local hospital. The scene was left with Colorado State Patrol.

Sunday, May 5

BFPD responded to the 100 block of 2nd Street for a medical. TVEMS arrived moments later and assumed patient care. The patient was transported emergent to a local hospital.

Incident Activity May 6- May 11

Monday, May 6

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD was dispatched to the 500 block of Windom Peak Lane for a male with back pain. The crew assisted TVEMS  with loading of the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Engine 2 responded to Sundown Drive to fulfill a certificate for a ride to school. Both girls were delivered safely to Berthoud Elementary.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 300 block of Hubbell Street for a 2-year-old stuck in an exercise bike. TVEMS was attending to the child, whose right leg was stuck between the rails on the exercise bike. BFPD personnel extricated the patient using an ax to spread rails. The child was checked out by TVEMS and was not transported.

BFPD responded to the 700 block of Big Oak Drive for breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Wednesday, May 8

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 800 block of 4th Street for chest pains. The crew assisted with vitals and TVEMS arrived. The patient was then loaded into the ambulance and transported to a local hospital.

Thursday, May 9

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 249 NB for a single vehicle rollover with extrication. A Colorado state trooper arrived on scene and confirmed location and that the occupant would need extricated. There was only one person in the vehicle and the crew needed to remove the driver side door and perform a dash lift to free her legs. TVEMS assumed patient care and the woman was removed from the vehicle and loaded into the ambulance for transport. It was later determined there was a second vehicle involved and the driver wanted medical assessment, command requested another ambulance.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 3000 block of Woodcock Street for diabetic problems. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Friday, May 10

Berthoud Squad 11 and TVEMS were dispatched to 17000 Frontier Road for a man with severe back pain. The ambulance crew assumed patient care and used the Squad’s crew to assist with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD staged at Lehman Printing Press for gun shots fired. Larimer Cty Sheriff reported that the suspect was in custody and the scene was safe. The crew confirmed there were no injuries and the engine was needed to assist with lighting for the investigation.

Saturday, May 11

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to I-25 mm 250 NB for a 4-vehicle accident with minor damage. TVEMS transported one patient.

BFPD was dispatched to the 500 block of 9th Street for an 18-year-old male having a seizure. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD responded to the 1000 block of Jefferson Drive for a fall victim. TVEMS used the Squad crew to assist with loading of the patient for transport.

Incident Activity for May 13-19

Monday, May 13

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to Campion Academy for a possible stroke victim. TVEMS assumed patient care at which time the patient was loaded for transport.

BFPD was dispatched to the 600 block of Torreys Peak Lane for a sick person. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 1000 block of Paramount Drive for a lift assist.

Tuesday, May 14

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 19000 block of Weld County Road 5 for breathing problems. An 81-year-old man was having difficulty breathing. The man was loaded on to the cot and transported to a local hospital.

BFPD responded to the 700 block of Larimer County Road 8 for a 2-vehicle T-bone type accident. The crew extricated one occupant, and two others were transported to local hospital. Colorado State Patrol arrived on scene to assist Larimer County Sheriff’s Deputies with the investigation.

Wednesday, May 15

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 1000 block of Paramount Drive for a lift assist.

Citizen assist for a car seat check and installation at Station 2.

Thursday, May 16

BFPD responded to the 700 block of Bruce Drive for a 74-year-old woman having a diabetic issue. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the her for transport.

BFPD was dispatched to the 200 block of Bunyan Avenue for a grass fire of approximately 5’x5’ in size. Engine 13 quickly knocked down the fire and Squad 11 finished mopping up.

Berthoud Fire responded to Loves Truck Stop for a 44-year-old man having chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient car. The crew secured his truck before leaving.

BFPD responded to the 2800 block of S. Lincoln for a reported vehicle fire. Loveland E-3 arrived on-scene and reported a fully involved engine compartment fire. Loveland E-3 extinguished the fire while BFPD crews provided support.

BFPD responded to the 2800 block of Southwind Rd for a forklift that had flipped into Welch Reservoir. The forklift had been removed from the water prior to our arrival. Crews checked the area for any type of hazmat in the water, none was found.

BFPD responded to Bruce Drive for a medical call requested by LCSO. Crews arrived on-scene and found a party unconscious. Crew along with P-331 loaded the patient for evaluation. The patient later refused transport and was released to her boyfriend.

Friday May 17

BFPD responded to the 700 block of Wilfred Road for person having breathing problems. The patient was evaluated then transported to MCR by TVEMS.

BFPD responded to 1st street and CR 10E on reports of a motor vehicle accident. Crews arrived and found a 3 vehicle MVA blocking the northbound lanes. Crews and TVEMS checked for injuries and evaluated one who later refused transport. BFPD crews then picked up debris and fluids on the roadway.

Saturday May 18

BFPD responded to 300 block of E. Michigan for a person with leg pain. Squad-11 crew assisted TVEMS with patient care. Patient was transported by TVEMS.

BFPD responded to the 200 block of 2nd street for a person having a seizure. Squad-11 crew assisted TVEMS with patient care.

BFPD responded to 42nd street SE for a motor vehicle accident. Crews arrived to find one vehicle on its side blocking the number 2 lane of Highway 287. Second vehicle was upright in a ditch with two people still inside. Crews assisted the people from the vehicle that was on its side. A second ambulance was requested due to 3 patients needing transport. All parties were transported by TVEMS.

BFPD responded to the 3500 block of Highway 56 for a possible grass fire. Crews responded and found an attended agricultural burn.

BFPD responded to Loves Travel Stop for a possible grass fire. Crews were cancelled in route due to this being the same controlled agricultural burn.

BFPD responded to I-25 MM 250 on reports of a grass fire. Crews found the same controlled agricultural burn and spoke to the responsible party of the burn about a couple hot spots that needed attention.

BFPD responded to HW 56 and CR 13 on a PD request medical. Crews found LCSO in contact with a female patient. Patient was transported by TVEMS to MCR.

BFPD responded to the 17000 block of Frontier Road on a person with difficulty breathing. Squad-11 assisted with vital signs and patient refused transport.

Sunday May 19

BFPD responded to the 100 block of County Road 31 on reports of a motor vehicle accident. Crews reported a RV that had hit the rocks. All parties were out. Crews checked with occupants and both denied injuries. Crews then checked for hazards and found a propane tank valve had sheared off. Crews mitigated the problem.

BFPD responded to the 5600 block of County Road 8E on a PD request medical. BFPD was cancelled by TVEMS.

Incident Activity for May 20-26

Tuesday, May 21

BFPD responded to the intersection of Hwy 287 and Larimer Cty Road 8 for a 2-vehicle accident. TVEMS transported one driver to a local hospital, the crew checked for hazards and reported none were found.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a party having difficulty breathing. The crew assisted with vital signs and the patient was loaded for transport to a local hospital.

Wednesday, May 22

Berthoud Fire responded to the 4000 block of High Plains Avenue for a fall victim. The party had fallen down some stairs and sustained injuries to his shoulder. Both crews worked together to get the patient loaded and transported.

Thursday, May 23

Berthoud Squad 11 along with TVEMS responded to a request for emergency medical care for a woman who had fallen out of her bed. She requested to be transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The crew assisted with packaging and loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD was dispatched to the 600 block of Larimer Cty Road 8 for a 49-year-old female for back pain. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Friday, May 24

BFPD responded to Hwy 56 just west of I-25 interchange for a 3-vehicle accident, with one person ejected from their vehicle. All three vehicles had heavy damage, one male was loaded and transported to a local hospital. Larimer Cty Sheriff and Colorado State Patrol were on scene and initiated the investigation.

Engine 1 assisted the police dept. with cleaning up after the earlier Hwy 56 accident. The crew sprayed the bio matter left from the accident scene.

BFPD assisted a citizen on Douglas Place.

BFPD responded to a small trash fire on Bronco Court. The crew extinguished the fire and the scene was turned over to LCSO.

Saturday, May 25

BFPD responded to a report of a man found on the ground near 6th St. and Capital Ave. The unconscious patient was assessed and transported to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to a medical call at the Berthoud High School graduation ceremony for a male who fell and injured his head. The crew assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient.

BFPD responded to a report of a cut line on Mount Rainer St. Xcel was contacted and upon their arrival the crew cleared the scene.

BFPD responded to a reported vehicle fire near structures. The crew found a work van with a compartment fire in the alley between 4th and 5th Street on Mountain Ave. The fire was extinguished in approximately 3 minutes. During the attack on the fire a large explosion took place and a large metal part hit one of BFPD’s firefighters in the chest knocking him to the ground. The patient was in and out of consciousness complaining of shortness of breath. TVEMS transported the FF to the nearby hospital. The patient was evaluated and eventually released.

Squad 11 assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a fall on Gary Drive. The crew assisted with loading the patient to be transported.

Incident Activity May 27-June 2

Monday, May 27

BFPD responded to the 4000 block of S. Arthur Avenue for an 84-year-old not feeling well. Squad 11 assisted TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport.

Tuesday, May 28

Berthoud Squad 11 was dispatched to the 3000 block of Woodcock Street for a lift assist.

BFPD responded to the 600 block of 9th Street for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to the 500 block of Larimer Cty Road 8 for female not feeling well and wanted to be transported to a local hospital.

Wednesday, May 29

Berthoud Squad 11 assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Love’s Truck Stop. The crew assisted with loading  the patient to be transported.

BFPD responded to a request for emergency medical care at  Good Samaritan in Loveland. The crew assisted TVEMS with preparing a patient for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to assist with extinguishment of a motor home on Arabian Court. A 53-year-old male was treated on scene for being exposed to smoke.

BFPD responded to the 1900 block of Berthoud Parkway for a cardiac arrest. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was loaded for transport.

BFPD responded to Pinewood reservoir for a fall victim. The crew assisted with loading the patent for transport to a local hospital.

Thursday, May 30

Berthoud Fire responded to I-25 mm 249 for 2-vehicle accident with moderate damage. TVEMS transported one person and the crew provided traffic control, and placed oil dry in the roadway.
