Incident activity for October 2013

Tuesday, October 8

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. This was a single vehicle rollover accident with no injuries.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a report of a track runner who had fallen and had a seizure at Berthoud High School. The patient’s mother was contacted and arrived on scene. TVEMS took over the patient care.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for abdominal pains on Fairways Drive. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, October 9

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a person who had fallen and needed assistance on 10th St.

BFPD responded to First Street for a possible gas leak. A vessel was leaking from a valve on a truck. The fire crew closed the valve stopping the leak.

Thursday, October 10

BFPD responded to a medical call on Douglas Place. The call was cancelled while enroute by TVEMS.

BFPD responded to a medical call for cardiac arrest on 49th St. The patient was being treated with CPR until the crew and TVEMS arrived. The patient was transported emergent.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for cardiac arrest on Glenview Drive. CPR was performed but all efforts were unsuccessful and the patient was declared deceased.

Friday, October 11

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a report of a medical emergency at the park and ride off Interstate 25. The driver was found sleeping and so the call was cancelled.

BFPD responded to an investigation of a 55-gallon drum filled with an unknown substance on County Road 17. Larimer County EPA was contacted to remove the possibly hazardous barrel.

BFPD responded to Kansas Ave. for an odor investigation. The crew was unable to find any source of odor.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a Berthoud High School football game for a patient in the stands needing assistance for a headache and experiencing dizziness. The patient was assessed and the mother was notified. The mother chose to take care of her son and took him home.

Sunday, October 13

BFPD responded to a report of a structure fire in a

single-family residence on County Road 23. The homeowner directed the crew to the kitchen where light smoke was found coming from the area. The crew investigated the stove and oven and found carbon buildup on a heating element causing the smoke. No other hazards were found.

Monday, October 14

BFPD responded to a medical call on Maple Drive. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. Both vehicles had moderate damage and no injuries were reported.

Tuesday, October 15

BFPD responded to Loveland to cover Station One while Loveland Fire responded to a motor vehicle accident with extrication on North Cleveland.

Wednesday, October 16

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 247. This was a three-car accident and one occupant was injured.

Thursday, October 17

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical on Seventh Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of County Road 8 andU.S. Highway 287. This was a two-vehicle accident with minor damage and one person was injured.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Thundering Peaks Drive for a female who had fallen, injuring her leg. The patient was transported.

Friday, October 18

BFPD responded to a medical call on East County Road 2. The call was cancelled prior to arrival by TVEMS.

BFPD responded to a report of a smoke odor on Horseshoe Circle. The fire crew investigated but was unable to find any fire or smoke in the area.

Saturday, October 19

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center.

Sunday, October 20

BFPD responded to the Valley Dirt Rider tract for a motorcycle accident. A motorcyclist was found unconscious but breathing, with trauma to the head and pelvis. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical assist on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. A slow moving vehicle had been pulled over by the state patrol and the patient was transported for evaluation.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center.

Monday, October 21

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Colorado Avenue for a patient who had fallen. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, October 22

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, October 23

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm on Ninth Street. It turned out to be a false alarm caused by maintenance personnel who were working on the system.

Thursday, October 24

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a person with back pain on Blue Mountain Ave. The patient was transported.

Friday, October 25

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Colorado Ave. The patient was found unresponsive but eventually responded to CPR. The patient was transported.

Saturday, October 26

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 251. Two passengers were injured.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for a person with breathing problems on W. County Road 8E. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. There was one non-transport patient.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Weld County Road 7.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Wilfred Avenue for a person with abdominal pain. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Caballo Street. The patient was transported.

Sunday, October 27

BFPD responded to a report of a grass fire near Sprague Ave. The fire crew searched the area and found a small controlled burn. The responsible party did not have a burn permit so they were asked to extinguish the fire.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire near Maureen Road. The fire crew found two small unpermitted burns in the area. Both homeowners were asked to extinguish the fire and they were advised of the open burning permit policy.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a report of a possible grass fire on Arapahoe Ave. The fire crew found a small fire in an approved fire pit. The crew confirmed it was legal.

Monday, October 28

BFPD responded to a medical call on Sherman Dr. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with medical care. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, October 29

BFPD responded to a medical call on Taras Court for breathing difficulties. The fire crew assisted the patient with medical care until the arrival of TVEMS. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287. This was a two-vehicle accident with moderate damage to the vehicles. There were no reported injuries.

Wednesday, October 30

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a walk-in medical at Station 1 for a cut on the hand. The patient was told to visit Urgent Care for further care.

Thursday, October 31

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on South Highway 287. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on Megan Way. The alarm company reported smoke detector activation in the residence. When the crew arrived, the homeowner advised them that burning food in the kitchen activated the detector. No fire was present.

BFPD responded to a smoldering flood debris pile at the entrance of a driveway on Weld County Road 7 near the Little Thompson River. There was moderate smoke and open flame in the 10’x10’x6’ debris pile. The fire crew extinguished the fire. The source of ignition was most likely spontaneous combustion occurring deep within the pile.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Second St. The fire crew and TVEMS assisted an elderly male needing help to a walker.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical on Weld County Road 5.

Saturday, November 2

BFPD responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25. The crew was unable to find an incident.

Monday, November 4

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 near mile marker 250. This was a two-vehicle accident with no injuries reported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on 6th St. The patient was experiencing breathing difficulties was transported.

Tuesday, November 5

BFPD assisted a person on Glen Drive who had a cut finger.

BFPD responded to an odor investigation on Massachusetts Ave. The fire crew searched the area but was unable to find any source of gas odor.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Welch Ave. The patient was transported.

Thursday, November 7

BFPD responded to a reported fire alarm on Cheyenne Drive. The fire crew met the responsible party at the residence and was told the smoke detectors were sounding an alarm. There were no signs of fire present. The smoke alarm batteries were replaced and the crew recommended replacing the detectors.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Soaring Peaks Drive. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

Friday, November 8

BFPD garage fire Berthoud Fire Calls: October 2013BFPD responded to a report of a detached garage on fire on County Road 23. The unoccupied garage was fully involved threatening a nearby structure. Longmont Fire responded as mutual aide. The fire was extinguished and the structure was overhauled.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Fourth St. A moving vehicle had hit two parked cars causing moderate damage to all the vehicles. One patient was transported.

Saturday, November 9

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Berthoud Peak Drive.

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident at Valley Dirt Rider. An injured rider was transported.

BFPD responded to a single vehicle rollover on N. County Road 17. The vehicle was found on its side with two occupants still inside the vehicle. The occupants had to be extracted. One occupant was transported for possible neck injuries.

Sunday, November 10

BFPD responded to a medical call for a child who was riding in a vehicle on Interstate 25 and fell and hit his head. TVEMS assisted the patient while the fire crew controlled the traffic.
