Incident activity for September, 2013

Sunday, September 1

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on South Iowa Ave. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Weld County Road 1. The patient was found on a dock of Newell Lake complaining of leg pain due to a water skiing accident. The patient was transported.

Monday, September 2

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries on Interstate 25. A truck was found on its side in the southbound lanes with all parties out. One occupant was being treated for injury by TVEMS.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 248. The call was cancelled while enroute.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident for a possible head injury to a young child. The fire crew assessed the patient until the arrival of TVEMS who assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to a report of a tractor on fire on Wilfred Road. A full size John Deere tractor was on fire with the property owner spraying the fire with his garden hose. The fire crew used foam to further extinguish the fire.

BFPD responded to a grass fire at the intersection of County Road 1 and Highway 56. There were two small areas of fire that were extinguished.

Tuesday, September 3

BFPD responded to a report of a grass fire in the area of mile marker 250 on Interstate 25. The crew searched the area along the Interstate and nothing was found.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Oak Drive. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for an unconscious person on Welch Road. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, September 4

BFPD responded to a smoke report in the area west of Carter Lake. The fire crew assisted Loveland Fire with extinguishing an approximately ΒΌ acre fire near the address of Rainbow Lane.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a lift assist for a patient needing assistance on Willow Drive.

Thursday, September 5

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Mountain Ave.

BFPD responded to a medical call for a diabetic patient on South County Road 21. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care.

Friday, September 6

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Blue Mountain Ave. for abdominal pains. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on N. County Road 17. This was a single vehicle accident with heavy damage and the driver was still inside the vehicle unconscious. The driver was transported.

BFPD responded to a call for assistance at Berthoud Living Center for a patient transfer.

Saturday, September 7

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for a traumatic injury on Rapid Court. The crew assisted with splinting the injured ankle and loading the patient to be transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Welch Ave. The patient was transported.

Sunday, September 8

BFPD responded to a hit and run accident involving a truck vs bicycle on County Road 31. There were 2 bicyclists down in the roadway. The truck did not stop initially, but did stop further down the road. The two bicyclists were injured and were transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Pheasant Run.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Lake Hollow Road. The patient was deceased.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on North Third St. The patient was transported.

Monday, September 9

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Larimer County Road 23. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a report of a structure fire on Lakritz Street. The initial report came from a third party stating that lightening had struck the house and it was possibly on fire. The homeowner also called with the same report. Upon arrival to the residence the fire crew searched and did not find any smoke or fire on the interior, exterior or roof. The lightning had possibly struck the house but there were no signs of damage.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on 83rd St. This was a single vehicle rollover accident with no injuries.

Tuesday, September 10

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Red Cloud Drive.

Wednesday, September 11

BFPD responded to an inside odor investigation on Second St. The fire crew searched the residence and did not find elevated levels of carbon monoxide.

Thursday, September 12

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a single car that was stuck on a bridge that had washed out. There were no injuries involved.

BFPD assisted a citizen on S County Road 21 who was concerned about the flooding that was approaching his home. The citizens in the area were advised to consider evacuating if it became necessary.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for breathing problems on County Road 21. Upon arrival, the crew found two patients who were ill and needed to be transported.

Friday, September 13

BFPD responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on County Road 17 where the bridge had been washed out. No vehicle was found at the scene.

BFPD responded to a dive rescue call for trapped parties in a vehicle around north 83rd Street. Upon arrival to the area the crew found a white pickup about 200 feet out with one party standing outside of the vehicle in waste deep rushing water. A swift water certified firefighter rescued the victim and also a small dog. There was no medical attention needed.

BFPD assisted a citizen that slid off the roadway into the ditch near County Road 15. There were no injuries reported and the driver was safely removed from the vehicle.

BFPD responded to a reported outside gas leak on W. County Road 4E. The crew checked the area and did not find any elevated levels of natural gas. A pipe was found exposed due to the flooding so Xcel was notified of the problem.

BFPD responded to an outside gas leak on Singing Waters Court. There was a distinct odor of gas in the area. The meter for the gas was found and secured and Xcel was notified.

BFPD responded to an unknown problem for a lifeline alarm on Welch Ave. This was a false alarm.

Saturday, September 14

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm on Weld County Road 7. Nothing was found inside the building and it was determined to be a false alarm set off by the storm.

BFPD responded to a reported aircraft crash in a field off of County Road 4. Upon arrival to the scene, the aircraft appeared to be intact from the road and all parties were out and walking around. The aircraft had a successful emergency landing in a field due to bad fuel. There were no reported injuries.

Sunday, September 15

BFPD responded to a report of a gas leak possibly from a cut line outside on County Road 21. Upon arrival the crew found Xcel already on scene attempting to locate the leak. The crew was cleared to respond to a mutual aid request from Milliken Fire.

Monday, September 16

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on 95th St. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, September 17

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. This was a three-vehicle accident with minor damage and one patient was injured.

Wednesday, September 18

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident on West County Road 8E. The motorcyclist was injured and was transported.

BFPD responded to a report of a haystack fire west of 287. The property owner estimated the stack to be about 600 bales of grass hay. A man on scene assisted with a tractor helping the crews pull the stack down and spread it out while applying water. After several hours the fire was extinguished. It was determined that the haystack had reached spontaneous combustion temperature that caused the initial fire.

BFPD responded to a medical call on County Road 2. The crew arrived at the home and found it to be unoccupied. The alarm company who initiated the call found this to be a malfunctioning alarm.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Welch Ave. for a patient who had fallen. The patient was transported.

Friday, September 20

BFPD responded to a reported unauthorized burn at a storage facility on County Road 10E. The property owner was informed of the controlled burning permit policy. The fire was extinguished.

BFPD responded to a report of a smoke odor in front of Hays Market. The fire crew searched the surrounding area but did not find the source.

BFPD responded to a reported grass/wildland fire on Highway 287. The fire was reported to be a smoldering haystack fire that had rekindled from the incident the crews responded to on Wednesday. Once on scene the crews extinguished all visible flames from the smoldering hay and soaked the area with an additional 1000 gallons of water to prevent another rekindle.

Saturday, September 21

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on First Street for chest pain. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center. The crew assisted TVEMS with medical care and the patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call on West County Road 10 for a person who had fallen. The patient sustained a gash on their head as a result of falling on a rock. The crew assisted TVEMS with the patient care. The family transported the patient for further evaluation.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

Sunday, September 22

BFPD responded with TVEMS to Valley Dirt Rider for a motorcycle accident. The injured rider was transported.
