Berthoud Fire Calls: September 2019

Incident Activity Sept. 9-15

Monday, Sept. 9

BFPD responded to the 1000 block of 3rd Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 1000 block of White Water Court for a 70-year-old woman who had fallen. Command turned over the scene to TVEMS.

Citizen assist to the 3000 block of Nations Way to change smoke detector batteries.

BFPD responded to Larimer Cty road 8 for a 2-vehicle accident with moderate damage. TVEMS checked out the occupants and cleared all of them from  injuries. Larimer Cty Sheriff cleared the crew once the vehicles were towed and the investigation was completed.

Tuesday, Sept. 10

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 300 block of E. Michigan for a 36-year-old woman who had fallen and broken her nose. TVEMS took over patient care.

BFPD responded to Rosewood Drive for a cut gas line caused by construction equipment and began securing the perimeter. Xcel was able to successfully clamp the line and eliminate the hazard . Larimer Cty Sheriff reopened the roadway.

BFPD responded to the 500 block of Redwood Circle for an 87-year-old man who had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was loaded for transport.

Citizen assist for changing the batteries in the CO detector in the 3000 block of Woodcock Street.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

Berthoud Fire dispatched to the intersection of Hwy 287 and SW 42nd Street. Two vehicles had crashed, and all parties were out with no injuries. Once the vehicles had been towed and the lanes cleared of debris the fire units returned to service.

Citizen assist at Station 1 for a car seat installation.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 2000 block of Urban Place for a 27-year-old woman having chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Thursday, Sept. 12

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 400 block of Ellie Way for a 97-year-old female stroke victim. Patient was stable and loaded into the ambulance for transport.

BFPD dispatched to the 700 block of Cty Road Trail for a sick person. A 67-year-old woman was dizzy and was found on the floor. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was loaded into the ambulance and transported.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 18000 block of Weld Cty Road 1 for a 65-year-old woman feeling sick. Command was handed down to TVEMS at which time the patient was loaded and transported.

BFPD dispatched to the 100 block of 49th Street SW for a 56-year-old female not feeling well after surgery. TVEMS assumed patient care and which time the patient was loaded and transported to a local hospital.

BFPD responded to the 800 block of Greenwood Drive for a 72-year-old man with chest pains. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care and packaging him for transport.

Friday, September 13

BFPD responded to the 3000 block of Woodcock Street for a 79-year-old woman who had fallen. The crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 1000 block of 4th Street for an 86-year-old female have breathing difficulties. TVEMS arrived and took over command, the patient was loaded and transported.

Saturday, September 14

BFPD responded to the 1000 block of Schofield Road for a 67-year-old female with breathing problems. The patient was transported to a local hospital.

Incident Activity Sept. 16-22

Monday, September 16

BFPD responded to the 4000 block of Larimer Cty Rd 4 for a 98-year-old woman having a stroke. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was loaded for transport.

Berthoud Squad 1 was dispatched to the 600 block of 6th Street for heart problems. The patient was then helped on to the cot and transported to a local hospital.

The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging a patient for transport in the 900 block of 9th Street.

Berthoud Fire responded to Turner Middle School for breathing problems. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care. The school continued to contact the patient’s guardians.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 2000 block of Parrish Ranch for psych problems. The crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport. Once the patient was loaded the scene was turned back over to Larimer Cty Sheriff.

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the 17000 block of Frontier Road for breathing problems. The crew found a man having trouble breathing in his chair. TVEMS started patient care and the crew set things up to remove the patient from the house. The patient was loaded into the ambulance.

Citizen assist to install a car seat at Station 1.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the intersection of Grand Market and TPC Parkway for a diabetic problem. TVEMS transported the patient to a local hospital.

Tuesday, September 17

BFPD responded to Larimer Cty Road 21 and Larimer Cty 8 for a cut gas line. The scene was turned over to Xcel Energy. Xcel was successful at clamping off the gas line.

BFPD provided fire extinguisher training to ATI on 2nd Street. ATI personnel were trained on how to properly use a fire extinguisher.

Berthoud Squad 2 responded to the 2000 block of Larimer Cty 21 for diabetic problems. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD was dispatched to the 3000 block of Bellaire Avenue for a sick person. Squad 1 crew assisted TVEMS with patient care and loading for transport.

Wednesday, September 18

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a sick person. The patient was loaded and transported to a local hospital.

BFPD responded to the 500 block of Redwood Circle for CO detector that needed new batteries.

Berthoud Fire dispatched to the 800 block of Franklin Avenue for bushes that were on fire. The fire was knocked down quickly and mop-up was complete.

Thursday, September 19

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 400 block of Schofield Road for a 101-year-old woman not feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care at which time the patient was loaded for transport.

Friday, September 20

Citizen assist in the 500 block of Redwood Circle. The homeowner needed assistance in replacing smoke detectors. Squad 1 replaced all old detectors with new ones and tested the system to ensure proper replacement.

BFPD responded to 2nd street and Mountain Avenue for a child that had a possible broken ankle at the skate park. TVEMS assumed patient care at which time the patient was loaded for transport to a local hospital.

Citizen assist at Station 1 for a car seat installation.

Berthoud Fire was requested for a stand-by at a Berthoud High School football home game.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 2000 block of Urban Place to assist TVEMS with loading of a patient for transport.

Sunday September 22

BFPD responded to the intersection of Larimer Cty Road 8 and Larimer Cty Road 21 for a T-bone type collision with moderate damage. No hazards were found, command was turned over to Larimer Cty Sheriff to wait for Colorado State Patrol to arrive.

Berthoud Squad 2 responded to the 5000 block of W Cty Road 8E for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 1000 block of Navajo Place for a lift assist.

BFPD dispatched to the 600 block of Great Basin Court for a 78-year-old man having chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Monday, September 23

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 300 block of E. Michigan Avenue for a 36-year-old female having a seizure. TVEMS assumed patient care and the patient was loaded for transport to a local hospital.

Tuesday, September 24

BFPD was dispatched to the 900 block of 9th Street for a 57-year-old woman with back pain. TVEMS took the patients vitals and did an assessment. The crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire was notified of a small fire in one of the pizza ovens at Brick Oven Pizza by the business owner. He then acted quickly and grabbed a dry chemical extinguisher to extinguish the fire. The fire was in the lower oven near the gas valve that controls the oven. The crew was able then to secure gas to the lower oven by closing the value on the main line. We assisted the business owner in re-lighting the pilot for the upper oven. The scene was then turned back over to the business owner.

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Wednesday, September 25

Berthoud Fire responded to the 1000 block of 5th Street for a lift assist.

BFPD was dispatched to the 300 block of 42nd Street SW for a lift assist along with TVEMS.

Thursday, September 26

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the 300 block of Common Drive for abdominal pains. Patient care was handled by TVEMS. The crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD was dispatched to the 2000 block of Barela Drive for a cut gas line. Xcel was able to clamp the line.

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to the 200 block of 5th Street for a woman having a seizure. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to Berthoud High School for a gas odor investigation. The building was checked and no odor or cause detected. The crew advised the Berthoud High School Principal to contact BFPD if any further odor was detected.

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to the 200 block of 49th Street SW for a medical assist. TVEMS assumed patient care. 

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to the 600 block of 7th Street for a sick person. Patient care was handled by TVEMS. The crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Friday, September 27

Berthoud Squad 1 assisted a female at Station 1 for a possible heart attack. The patient was transported to a local hospital by TVEMS.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 800 block of Longview Avenue for a 77-year-old woman for a report of a seizure. The crew assisted the patient, and the patient’s condition improved. Patient refused transport.

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to the 4000 block of S. Garfield Avenue for a 96-year-old female for a medical assist. TVEMS assessed and assumed patient care.

Citizen assist to install car seat at Station 1.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 500 block of Redwood Circle for an 89-year-old man for a medical assist. The crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport to a local hospital. The crew remained on scene until the patient’s caregiver was transported to be with the patient.

Berthoud Engine 2 was dispatched to the 400 block of Lakritz Avenue for an 84-year-old man having breathing problems. Patient care was transferred to TVEMS and the crew assisted with loading the patient for transport.

Saturday, September 28

BFPD responded to the 2000 block of S. Highway 287 for a 2-vehicle accident. The crew assessed the accident with all parties denying any injury. The crew provided traffic control and cleaned up the scene. The crew stayed on scene for traffic control until the vehicles were towed. The highway was then reopened.

BFPD responded to the 600 block of Highway 287 for a single vehicle rollover accident. Larimer County Sherriff’s deputies were assisting the patient. BFPD provided traffic control and assisted with patient care. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient for transport. Command was terminated and the scene turned over to the Larimer County Sheriff. 

Sunday, September 29

Berthoud Engine 2 responded to S. County Road 29 for an accident involving a bicycle and a dog. The 70-year-old male cyclist had sustained injuries from falling off of his bike after hitting the dog. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Engine 1 was dispatched to the 4000 block of Iowa Avenue for a smoke odor. The crew spoke to the homeowner who reported no incident.

Monday, September 30

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 250 for a 4- vehicle accident with no injuries. The crew cleared the roadway of all fluids and debris. One vehicle was towed, and all other vehicles were removed from the roadway.

BFPD was dispatched to the 4000 block of John Galt for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to the 1000 block of 1st Street for a 2- vehicle accident with minor damage. One vehicle was towed, and one vehicle was able to drive away. All fluids and debris were cleared from the roadway.
