Berthoud High School VEX Robotics team needs donations

Berthoud High School (BHS), Thompson School District’s showcase school for science, engineering and mathematics, hosted the 2010 Colorado VEX Robotics Championship on Saturday, February 6. This tournament is an annual event that brings the best in robotics competitors from around the state. This year, both BHS teams rose to the challenge against 13 other teams, and won three of six possible awards—including the state championship! (photos are attached)

Both of Berthoud High School’s teams won the opportunity to, not only represent Berthoud High School but the State of Colorado, at the VEX World Championships in Dallas, Texas (April 22-24, 2010). In order for the Berthoud High School Robotics Club to compete against the best teams in the world, these winning teams must now find sponsors to get to Dallas—and they need your help.

See more coverage of the state competition from the front page of the Loveland Reporter-Herald last Sunday or at the Recorder Online.

Why are we contacting the Berthoud community? Northern Colorado is on the leading edge of the ‘green’ industrial revolution and Berthoud lies right in the middle of it. With more high-tech jobs being shipped overseas, we are trying to invest in our students locally to build a new, home-grown generation of highly skilled engineers, scientists and innovators. Therefore, for these promising young robotics students, we are hoping to raise $7,500 to help them get to the world championships. Please consider investing in them! Any funds left over will be used to purchase new robotics equipment and software for next year. If you donate over $500, your logo or name will appear on the back of their t-shirts that they will wear to the world championships. It is like having a walking billboard for your company or having your name in lights (so to speak)! If you can only write a check for $25, that is OK, too, as we are very appreciative of any support we can get for these outstanding young people!

Thank you in advance for your donation! Please mail your check to:
