Bid farewell to Barney the Dinosaur. No, the purple guy isn’t leaving TV, I’m talking about the pink one leaving Congress.
Barney has a legacy, indeed. He managed to take that political slogan from the 20th Century Great Depression “A chicken for every pot” and elevate it to “A house for every body!” In the process he, with the help of Chris Dodd, has managed almost single-handedly to bring on the 21st Century Great Depression. We are well on our way down that slide and going faster and faster. If you don’t believe that, you’re living in 1928!
George Bush asked Congress seventeen times to rein-in Fannie and Freddie, but Barney the Pink Dinosaur blocked his efforts calling them “Chicken Little philosophy”. Well, the sky has fallen, and it’s taking the whole economy with it. And guess what? All those “houses for everybody”? The banks are getting stuck with them and we, the taxpayers, are getting stuck with the bill. Well done, Barney.
So we bid the Dinosaur Adieu. But, it’s not a sad goodbye. I’m sure there’s a multi-million dollar job waiting for him at Fannie Mae — to be paid with, you guessed it, your money!
