LOVELAND, COLO — In the early hours of the first day of July Loveland’s Ralph Trenary filed a Candidate Affidavit to run as a Democratic candidate for Colorado State Senate District 15. “There’s no reason to delay, now is the time to step forward.” Trenary said of the early re-entry into an elected office contest. Berthoud Colorado, June 22, 2017  At approximately 3:05 a.m.  Berthoud Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire on S. County Rd. 21 in southwest of Berthoud. The garage structure was fully engulfed in flames at time of arrival, however it posed no threat to nearby structures. Berthoud Fire responded to the scene with three engine companies . On November 4, 2016, the Larimer County Coroner’s Office released a statement identifying the deceased male as 15-year-old Joshua J Francis of Berthoud. The coroner’s office determined cause of death was a gunshot wound of the head and the manner of death was suicide. LCSO investigators continue to conduct interviews and collect historical data involving this case in hopes of possibly identifying a motive for this tragic event.
