Second meningitis death confirmed

The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment on Tuesday confirmed the death of a second person from meningococcal disease. The patient had been hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins since June 14, 2010. “It is our very sad duty to confirm that the second hockey player from the C Division of the adult hockey league in Fort Collins, who played in a June 9th game, died early Tuesday morning, ” said Dr. Adrienne LeBailly, director of the ... Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who committed an armed robbery of the Conoco Gas Station at the intersection of I-25 and E. Berthoud Board of Trustees had a full agenda for the June 15 meeting. Medical marijuana was eleventh on the agenda, but two business asked to speak during the Citizen Participation. Both wanted to be exempted from the moratorium and be allowed to open for business before July 1. Both had obtained a town sales tax license before the moratorium went into effect. The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment is investigating several cases of meningococcal disease that have occurred over the past two weeks in Fort Collins, resulting in one death. Three cases have been confirmed as invasive meningococcal infections. Test results are still pending on one case with symptoms of bacterial meningitis. DATE: June 14, 2010 Larimer County: In a press conference today, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office Investigators announced they have closed two cold case files from the 1980's. The body of Orma B. Smith, 02/29/1888, of Longmont, was found on July 9, 1982, in a stream three miles east of Big Elk Meadows with multiple stab wounds.
