Tuesday, May 26 A neighbor called to report that the house on Greenwood Avenue that has been the subject of an arson investigation has weeds, broken windows and the boarded-up back door had gaps. Noxious weeds ready to bloom in the 900 block of Mountain Avenue were the subject of a complaint for the Code Enforcement Officer. Monday, May 25 BFPD assisted with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center for a person having seizures. The patient was transported. BFPD assisted with a medical call on Indiana Avenue for a person experiencing severe back pain. The patient was transported. BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 287 and Highway 56. This was a two-car accident with heavy damage to both vehicles. This was the first time that the Realities For Children motorcycle poker run came through Berthoud and, of course, our first time to sponsor it. We were not quite sure what to expect. Overtaxed in Berthoud I read with dismay the notice that the Town Trustees will consider partnering with Xcel Energy to increase our energy bills by 3 percent, which will go to the Town. This, I assume is the same town that recently hosted a luncheon costing $2,200 paid with taxpayers money. We are simply overtaxed. The History Beneath Our Feet: An Artifactual Walking

Each case contains artifacts recovered from the roadbed and walkways of the Mountain Avenue reconstruction project of 2008. The backdrop in each case is a vintage photograph of the Berthoud area. Tuesday, May 19 The two door-to-door Kirby vacuum saleswomen were gone from Pyramid Peak Street when police arrived. An after-hours call from the 600 block of Bristlecone Court advised of a flood in the backyard and bubbling along the property line. The caller believed it to be sewer water. Dispatch notified the appropriate Town department. Monday, May 18 BFPD assisted with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center for an unconscious patient. The patient was transported. BFPD responded to a grass fire on Highway 287 and County Road 6. A 10 x 10 fire was found smoldering in the irrigation ditch. The fire was extinguished.
