Ann Marie Karspeck and Joshua Finkelstein of Fort Collins announce their engagement to wed. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mr. Milan Karspeck of Berthoud and Ms. Patricia Karspeck of Loveland. Ann Marie graduated from Berthoud High School in 2001 and earned her degree in business marketing from Hawaii Pacific University in 2005. Police Beat: April 16, 2009

Tuesday, April 7 A man came into the police department to report his unit at Berthoud Self Storage had been broken into. He produced the loop part of his lock which had been cut off. Eight to 10 packing blankets were taken from the site. There are no suspects at this time. The parents of a Berthoud Elementary School student reported that an unknown male tried to talk their son into getting in to his car. The boy refused the offer. Fire Beat: April 16, 2009

Tuesday, April 7 BFPD responded to a reported outside gas leak near Mountain Avenue and Meadowlark Lane. This was a three-inch natural gas line that was leaking natural gas into an open field. Xcel Energy was notified and responded.  BFPD assisted with a medical call on Sundown Court. The patient was transported. Tuesday, March 31 A vehicle in the 700 block of Massachusetts Avenue was marked as abandoned. Police gave a verbal warning to some juveniles who were using the tennis net at Fickel Park as a trampoline. Wednesday, April 1 A resident of south Ninth Street reported that a thirty-something, bearded male wearing dirty jeans had approached his daughter on the previous day. Fire Beat: April 9, 2009

Monday, March 30 BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287 and First Street. There was minor damage to the vehicle and there were no injuries. BFPD found a single car accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 253. The vehicle was on its side, there were no injuries. BFPD responded to 42nd Avenue for a smoke investigation. Town Briefs: Board Decides to Rewrite White's

By Sandy Barnes Berthoud Recorder The Town Board has directed Town Attorney Bruce Fickel to rewrite the contract for Town Administrator Jim White. The decision was reached at the end of a two-hour executive session at the March 31 Board of Trustees meeting. Trustee Michael Patrick cast the only negative vote on the matter. Monday, March 23 BFPD assisted with a medical call on S. CR 17 for a sick person. The patient was transported. Tuesday, March 24 BFPD responded to a call for carbon monoxide on Fourth St. Upon arrival the carbon monoxide levels were found to be elevated due to a malfunction in the fireplace. Tuesday, March 24 An inoperative gas powered go-cart was stolen from an alley garage in the 100 block of Welch Ave. A pedestrian walking along Bunyan Ave. called 911 when he was followed by a dog resembling a pit bull. The caller reported the dog was not mean, and when the animal’s owner showed up the walker cancelled the call. A girl called in from Fickle Park to report that in a group of six juvenile males in the park, one of the boys “flashed” them and one offered marijuana. The boys ... Full Story

Back to Nature Foods Recalls Trail Mix Containing

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced that Back to Nature Foods Company is voluntarily recalling its Nantucket Blend trail mix containing pistachio nuts as they may be contaminated with Salmonella.  The recall is being issued as a precaution as there have not been any reported cases of illness associated with these products.
