Scott Elias, assistant principal at Loveland High School, has been named interim principal at Conrad Ball Middle School. He is filling in for Sheila Pottorff, who will be interim director of Secondary Education for the 2010-2011 school year. Elias came to Thompson School District and LHS in 2007. The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment is investigating several cases of meningococcal disease that have occurred over the past two weeks in Fort Collins, resulting in one death. Three cases have been confirmed as invasive meningococcal infections. Test results are still pending on one case with symptoms of bacterial meningitis. He was a World War II combat veteran in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean and his son Ronald. DATE: June 14, 2010 Larimer County: In a press conference today, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office Investigators announced they have closed two cold case files from the 1980's. The body of Orma B. Smith, 02/29/1888, of Longmont, was found on July 9, 1982, in a stream three miles east of Big Elk Meadows with multiple stab wounds.
