Wedding: Early Evening Wedding for Bunker, Resibeck
Derek and Amber (nee Bunker) Reisbeck were wed in a double-ring ceremony April 30, 2009 at the Tapestry House in LaPorte, Colo., among family and friends. For the early evening ceremony, the bride wore a strapless ball gown with beaded bodice and “whipped topping” skirt. She carried a uniquely sentimental bouquet of long-stemmed calla lilies draped over her arm. Police Beat: Aug. 27, 2009
Tuesday, Aug. 18 An east Nebraska Avenue resident reported finding a female child in his yard in late afternoon. The child did not know where she lived. It only took the police about three minutes to find out that the child lived on east Iowa and had left the yard while her mother took a nap. Police responded to a complaint about trash piled around the Berthoud Living Center. Fire Beat: Aug. 27, 2009
Monday, Aug. 17 BFPD assisted with a medical call for seizures on Bristlecone Court. The patient was transported. BFPD responded to a reported structure fire in a commercial building on SW 42nd St. This was a very small fire with minor damage to the building. Wednesday, Aug. 19 BFPD responded with Loveland Fire to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 at mile marker 252. This was a single-vehicle rollover accident with heavy damage to the vehicle. Pierce Vance Curry was born Friday, July 31 to proud parents Jeff and Shannon Curry of Berthoud at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. At his delivery, Pierce weighed 6 pounds, 9.2 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. (more…)
Police Beat: Aug. 20, 2009
Monday, Aug. 10 A 16-year-old female reported that her 18-speed bicycle was missing after she spent some time in the swimming pool at Berthoud Park. Tuesday, Aug. 11 Police found no criminal violation in a physical disturbance in the 800 block of Jay Place. Police received a noise complaint about a rooster on Common Drive that crows off and on all day. A code violation in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue led to a written warning being issued. Compliance with Open Meetings Laws Questioned
By Shari Phiel Berthoud Recorder Both the Longmont City Council’s and the Berthoud Board of Trustee’s adherence to state open meetings laws have recently come under scrutiny. Late last week the Longmont Times-Call newspaper announced it had filed suit with the 20th Judicial District court against the Longmont City Council, claiming the government body violated Colorado’s open meetings laws in June. The Zweck-Lemmon Barn: A Labor of Love
Historic Barn Series By Jenny Anderson Berthoud Recorder The Little Thompson Valley Zweck-Lemmon farm has a long history of hardship and neglect, ending in a half-century of love. William K. Staggs purchased 160 acres in the Little Thompson Valley from the federal government in February 1870. This was the first of several parcels purchased by George Zweck, who farmed and raised livestock on the farm. He likely built the granary remaining on the property.
