Sam Schleiger gets “Teacher Tuesday” award

Sam Schleiger, a 2003 graduate of Berthoud High School is now a teacher in nearby Milliken. Schleiger was recently honored by country radio station K99 for the "Teacher Tuesday Award". Brian Gary and Susan Moore from K99 came to Milliken Elementary School where Sam teaches 5th grade and surprised him with the award during an all-school assembly. In the age of abbreviated Twitter messages writing may become a lost art, but some of Berthoud’s youth can still put a sentence together . The Berthoud Schools Fund (BSF) challenged Berthoud students to write about how the technology provided by the money raised at the last two Berthoud Bashes has influenced their education. By Thomas N. Berthoud’s Turner Middle School sent four students to compete in the district spelling bee last Saturday at Walt Clark Middle School in Loveland. These students coached by Colleen Bowker, were Hannah Stippich, Karsten Bump, Ken Kubik and Olivia Conde.
