New Northern Water Summer How-To Series Offers Insight on Water Efficiency in Landscaping and Watering BERTHOUD – Starting in April, Northern Water is offering a free how-to series of seminars on improving water efficiency in landscaping and watering.   Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident Activity for March Monday, March 1 BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on County Road 17 and US Highway 287. There was heavy damage to both vehicles.  One person was injured and transported.   Tuesday, March 2 BFPD responded to a reported gas leak on First Street. The “Bean” is closed, Windy says goodbye to Berthoud

Citing the construction on Mountain Avenue, from which she never fully recovered, and facing another summer of construction, Windy Castle has called it quits. She told customers on Saturday that it was her last day. The business remains closed on Monday, but the sign on the door says the restaurant expects to reopen soon under new management. Unconfirmed reports are that the previous owner, Michelle Lebeque is planning on opening again as soon as possible.

Demolished Subaru at the northeast corner of the intersection of US Highway 287 and Mountain Avenue. Berthoud emergency personnel responded to a report of a four-car motor vehicle accident on US Highway 287 at State Highway 56 on Wednesday afternoon. The accident happened a few minutes before 4 p.m. and scattered car parts and broken glass over a wide area of the usually busy intersection. Keith Burgess had a ringside seat for the accident. Grace Place was bustling on Monday evening as the Berthoud Lions Club held their annual Reverse Raffle. Curtis Wilson, in his white coat and top hat added his usual wit and humor to the evening. Fort Collins Lion, Alan Beatty provide even more humor and delightful songs and tales. There were the usual groans and moans as the names were erased from the big board and dreams of the $1,000 prize evaporated. The eventual winner was not present to accept his prize. Main Street Station scheduled to open Friday, March 12

By Judy Lehn The folks at Main Street Station, formerly J.B. Clymer’s, are still doing fix-up, clean-up and repairs on their new digs at the former Abeyta’s, 335 Mountain Avenue.  Bob Nixon, co-owner along with his wife, Shari and his mother-in-law, Sharon Dowling, are creating a whole new restaurant.  The next item of business is new carpeting, with furniture soon to follow. They hope to open on Friday, March 12, with a grand opening scheduled later.

BFPD assisted with a medical call for injury from an assault at Berthoud High School. BFPD dive rescue team responded to a call for two dogs found in the lake near the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District. A responsible party rescued one dog before the dive team’s arrival. Berthoud Fire to perform hydrant flushing

Press Release BERTHOUD — Berthoud Fire Protection District crews will perform fire hydrant flushing starting 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday in the Little Thompson Water District outside the town of Berthoud. Flushing there will continue through March 10. Starting March 11, crews will flush hydrants inside Berthoud. According to Fire Marshal P. Michael Bruner, it is possible that sediment may be stirred up, causing brown water. He said residents should run a couple of faucets in their homes until the ... Full Story
