Berthoud Girls Make Finals at Simplot Article and photo by Kristi Leonard Five girls from Berthoud High School participated in the 33rd Simplot Games this past week. The Simplot games is one of the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field meets. This year’s event was held  at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. Twenty-nine teams from across Colorado and three teams from Iowa and one from Nebraska battled in a competition of robotic engineering and strategy at Berthoud High School on February 5. By Thomas N. Berthoud’s Turner Middle School sent four students to compete in the district spelling bee last Saturday at Walt Clark Middle School in Loveland. These students coached by Colleen Bowker, were Hannah Stippich, Karsten Bump, Ken Kubik and Olivia Conde. By Thomas N. The United States flag has had 50 stars since 1960, yet today a flag that bares only 48 stars was returned to its home at Berthoud High School. The flag has traveled from New York to California and numerous states in-between, but was first flown in Berthoud.
