What a great event the Public Safety day was. Fire engines, police cars an ambulance and Sparky the firedog made for an exciting day and at the end there was even a chance to climb the tall fire truck ladder. The intent of the event was to keep the kids safe as they ride their bicycles to school and back. Larimer County Fair Photos Review

The County Fair Parade took place a couple days before the official opening, but the activities had started even before that as 4-H kids were busy setting up exhibits and competing in the equine events. Here the Berthoud Highlanders 4-H Club took time to enter the parade. The Larimer County Fair is over but the memories linger. The midway was open and many people enjoyed the activities. It turned out to be a beautiful day in Fickel Park, great weather for a day of music as the Bands of Berthoud performed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The audience was treated to 11 hours of almost continuous music provided by local musical groups. Many brought lawn chairs and settled in for several hours in the park. Technically, not all the groups were bands. Wildfire mural’s bold colors stand out

The Wildfire Summer Mural project is nearing completion as the crew puts on the finishing touches. Julia Lamb and Lane Foley were on the job early Thursday morning. The youngsters work under the direction of Anita Yeh. Yeh’s specialty is Asian Inspired Design. A multicultural artist, Yeh was raised in the U.S. but has lived in China and Taiwan. Sunday was a big day for Angie Purdy and her children, Heidi and Noah. The local Habitat for Humanity volunteers have been working diligently to finish the dwelling for the family. Video of opening prayers. The semi-formal dedication ceremony allowed community members and the many volunteers the opportunity to see the finished home. Newest Berthoud Habit home to be dedicated Sunday

The many volunteers of the Berthoud Habitat for Humanity have been busy for several months preparing a home for Angie Purdy and her family. The home has several features to accommodate her daughter Heidi's condition. Heidi recently underwent brain surgery as covered in this excellent article in The Holyoke Enterprise. The public is invited to attend the Habitat dedication on Sunday, July 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1712 North Fourth Street.

July 15, 2010 Mike Ehredt is running across the United States, planting a flag every mile. The flags each have a ribbon with the name of a serviceman/woman killed in the Iraq war. 4,375 flags with 4,375 yellow ribbons along a route that measures 4,551 miles from Astoria, Washington to Rockland, Maine. Today he came to Berthoud. Ehredt is a U.S. Army veteran and a retired postal clerk from the town of Driggs, Idaho, population 1,100. Briggs is no stranger to endurance sports. According ...
