The Morrison Trail, the newest trail at the Crowder Area of the Devil’s Backbone Open Space, is now open to the public. This 1 ¼-mile round-trip natural surface trail provides access for hikers and wheelchair users (although an assistant is recommended) at the south end of the existing Devil’s Backbone Open Space Trailhead. The trail was constructed in Spring 2010, by the Larimer County trail staff on an 11.8-acre parcel donated by the Crowder Family in memory of their son Russell. ... Full Story

Larimer County Natural Resources boat rangers have created an opportunity for Larimer County residents to assist at both Carter Lake and Horsetooth Reservoir. Boat rangers educate visitors about regulations, safety, and help with emergencies out on the reservoirs. Boat Ranger volunteers must be able to swim, be willing to work a five hour shift on the boat (option for longer shifts), and have some experience either with boats or law enforcement as well as great customer service ... News from the Colorado Division of Wildlife The Colorado Division of Wildlife is asking people to take precautions when living or recreating in coyote country. From coyote attacks on pets to aggressive coyotes approaching people, the Division is receiving increasing calls about coyote activity. Forest Service Reopens Climbing Areas in Boulder Canyon

Boulder, Colo. (April 2, 2010) – The Forest Service has reopened some climbing areas in Boulder Canyon that were closed to protect golden eagles during their nesting season. Security Risk and the Blob Rock/Bitty Buttress areas are now open to climbing and other activities. These areas are located along State Highway 119, approximately 1.5 miles east of Boulder Falls.
