Ten Larimer County Jail employees and a patrol deputy were given Lifesaving Awards by Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith last night at the agency's annual awards ceremony.

        October 18, 2011 The Larimer County Sheriff's Office has experienced an increase in the number of reports of credit card fraud recently.  It is not yet clear what is causing this increase but a formal investigation is underway. Jail Deputies Discover Weapons

  Date:   October 5, 2011 Larimer County Jail deputies successfully ended a plot by inmates making sharpened metal pieces, commonly known as shanks.  Yesterday, while on a routine check in one of the outdoor recreation areas, a Larimer County Jail corporal heard the distinct sound of metal scraping on concrete coming from another recreation area.  Upon investigation, deputies discovered several inmates involved in trying to sharpen metal pieces approximately five to six inches in length ...     Thirty years ago something remarkable happened on a ranch outside of Meeteetse, Wyoming.  A black-footed ferret, a small nocturnal carnivore thought to be extinct, was found by John and Lucille Hogg’s dog Shep.  This event led to the dramatic discovery of a small group of about 130 black-footed ferrets and offered a ray of hope for the species.
