DENVER –Rockies player and long-time Denver sports icon Todd Helton will be serving as Grand Marshal of the 2010 Downtown Denver Stock Show Parade on Jan. 12 at high noon. A herd of Longhorn cattle will lead the parade through the skyscrapers of downtown Denver. 2010 marks the 28th year that the 9Health Fair has been hosted in Berthoud. The Berthoud Lions Club sponsors the yearly event with the help of many community volunteers to offer many free and low-cost medical screenings that many Berthoud residents would not otherwise receive. The Berthoud 9Health Fair site typically serves between 400 and 700 people within a 6-hour timeframe. In order to accomplish this, they require the help of 60-75 volunteers. Nearly a dozen Larimer County residents have indicated a desire to fill the vacant position on the Larimer County Board of Commissioners. All are Republicans and Kathay Rennels’ successor will be chosen by the Larimer County Republican Central Committee. Win half a beef The Berthoud Wrestling Club is raffling off half a beef. All proceeds will go to the club to use for the kids. The tickets are $2 each or 6 for $10. The winner will have to pay for the butchering of the calf, approximately $250. The drawing will take place on January 9, 2010 and tickets will be on sale until then.
