Reward offered to catch poacher of prized Estes Park
DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado Division of Wildlife is seeking information on the poaching of a magnificent bull elk in downtown Estes Park on or around October 15. Investigation by the DOW showed that the mature bull, which had maintained a high profile in Estes Park during the rut, was struck by an arrow in the spine near its hind quarters. It came as a complete surprise for Berthoud resident Denise Schump when she was called to the stage at Lucile Erwin Middle School at a special assembly on Tuesday. She had been nominated for special recognition by Blake Martin, a student in her eighth grade class. Blake had written a letter to the TRI 102.5 radio station, which, in partnership with K99 radio in Windsor, honors a teacher each Tuesday of the school year. Last nights Old Fashioned Political Rally at the Ranch was gala affair even though the major party candidates for U.S. Senate and the governorship did not attend. The line up of speakers was continuous from the 5:40 p.m. start time until nearly 9 o’clock.
