Sculpture in Loveland
Two of the grandest shows on earth are taking place in Loveland this weekend as artists from all over the world converge on the Sweetheart City. The Sculpture in the Park show is in its 27th year and features over 170 artists and 2,000 pieces of sculpture. The venue is Benson Park and the hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Across the street at Loveland High School is the 19th Loveland Sculpture Invitational. teachers for Thompson School District arrived at Mountain View High High School for a day of orientation on Thursday. The morning began with an introduction to the Thompson Education Association, the local teacher’s union and continued with district staff. Pre-Fair activity at The Ranch
With he fair only a couple of days away, the Ranch still looks barren, but plenty is going on behind the scenes. The carnival area is just in the beginning stages, but it won’t take the carnival workers long to set up. Meanwhile, the 4-H kids have been bringing their exhibits in for judging and display setup. State Board of Education Approves Common Core
Press Release The Colorado State Board of Education today voted 4-3 to fully adopt the Common Core standards in mathematics and English language arts. The vote followed more than an hour of comments from individual board members and a recommendation from Commissioner of Education Dwight D. Jones, who supported adoption of the Common Core. Forum on Berthoud Water
Citizens First, a group for Berthoud residents who seek community involvement, will host a water forum on Wednesday, August 4 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Berthoud Community Center, 248 Welch Avenue. Wildfire mural’s bold colors stand out
The Wildfire Summer Mural project is nearing completion as the crew puts on the finishing touches. Julia Lamb and Lane Foley were on the job early Thursday morning. The youngsters work under the direction of Anita Yeh. Yeh’s specialty is Asian Inspired Design. A multicultural artist, Yeh was raised in the U.S. but has lived in China and Taiwan. First West Nile virus-infected mosquitoes of 2010
