Volunteer rangers needed on the Ranger Boat
Larimer County Natural Resources boat rangers have created an opportunity for Larimer County residents to assist at both Carter Lake and Horsetooth Reservoir. Boat rangers educate visitors about regulations, safety, and help with emergencies out on the reservoirs. Boat Ranger volunteers must be able to swim, be willing to work a five hour shift on the boat (option for longer shifts), and have some experience either with boats or law enforcement as well as great customer service ... Buy a plant, help a child
Women of the Berthoud First Presbyterian Church are selling plants to raise funds for an orphanage in Peru. Edna Korth is the green thumb behind this project. Edna said, “I just can’t keep my hands from digging.” This is the second time that Korth has grown plants to sell for the church’s mission. She was not planning a plant sale this year, but when she found some old outdated seeds, she decided to plant them even though she was sure they were too old to sprout. ... Full Story

Tragedy touches local family
An airplane crash in Southern Indiana on Sunday took the lives of David and Elizabeth Schump of Windsor. The couple is the brother and sister-in-law of James Schump of rural Berthoud. There are no details at this time. A short article is on the Channel 4 Website.
Evening With the Arts on May 7
The Berthoud High School gymnasium will be transformed into an art gallery on Friday, May 7. It is time for the annual Evening With the Arts, featuring visual and applied arts by students in grades 6 to 12. An apple for the teacher
The Thompson Education Association (TEA) gathered at Loveland’s Chilson Center on Friday afternoon for the ninth annual Crystal Apple Awards. This year 16 teachers were nominated by their peers for their teaching excellence. The awards are given by the TEA with financial assistance from Goodwin Financial and Horace Mann insurance.
