Friday, Jan. 1 It was shortly after midnight when the police responded to a report of fireworks at Ninth Street and Kansas Avenue. The New Year’s revelers were given a verbal warning. Thursday, Dec. 3 Berthoud police made 11 traffic stops and issued two summonses. At 3:03 a.m. police responded to a verbal disturbance at 217 McColm St. David McCullaum reported a theft at his apartment at 1606 Fourth St. A checkbook and other items were taken the day prior to the report. Tuesday, Oct. 13 A Ninth St. resident complained, “Barking dog in the back yard won’t stop.” All was quiet when the officer arrived. Police assisted when an off-duty police officer reported a hit-and-run incident on I-25. Police were unable to locate a careless driver at Berthoud High School. Tuesday, Oct. 6 Police responded to suspicious activity at the First Baptist Church on Bunyan Ave. but found no criminal violation. Several warnings and one summons were issued after traffic stops. An officer responded to the report that five kids were tearing up the basketball hoop at the First United Methodist Church. The officer reported that he found no signs of vandalism. Tuesday, Sept. 29 A report is due on a harassment call at the Berthoud Living Center. Police gave a verbal warning to individuals involved in a verbal disturbance at a business in the 1000 block of Second Street. Wednesday, Oct. 30 The Berthoud Conoco reported a counterfeit $10 bill. A woman came to the police station and asked for an officer to accompany her to retrieve her wallet. Tuesday, Sept. 15 Police took an intoxicated male into custody at 3:30 a.m. A vehicle parked at Berthoud High School was sideswiped by a hit and run driver. The collision left maroon paint on the parked vehicle. A woman found a brown wallet lying in the street and turned it into the Berthoud Police. Tuesday, Sept. 8 A Beagle was found running loose in the 1400 block of Oak Drive. The dog had a collar with a Town license and a rabies tag, which enabled the police to deliver the dog to the owner on Third Street and issue him a summons. A Seventh Street resident reported that his 8-week old black and white puppy was missing. He did not know whether the puppy had gotten loose or had been stolen. The puppy was wearing a pink collar. Tuesday, Sept. 1 A resident of the 1000 block of Sixth Street made another call concerning weeds in a neighboring yard. A school bus driver reported hay in the turn lane at west County Road 8 and Highway 287. Police found nothing when they arrived 10 minutes later.
