Odyssey of the Mind for Second Grade
Berthoud Elementary School fielded two teams in Saturdays Odyssey of the Mind Long’s Peak Tournament at Berthoud High School. Odyssey is an international educational program that provides creative problem solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. 2010 Education Appreciation Breakfast
The Thompson Education Foundation (TEF) honored teachers and staff at their annual Education Appreciation Breakfast, held this year in Berthoud at the Brookside Gardens Event Center. After breakfast, Wes Fothergill, the Executive Director of the foundation began the proceedings by introducing each of the six recipients of last year’s Creativity Grant Awards. Spartan Wrestling Awards Banquet
Six Berthoud wrestlers were recognized at the 2010 award banquet concluding this year's Spartan Wrestling season. Robby Workman, Alex Sadlo, Casey Couch, J.T. Pickert and Billy Schump were given all conference top honors and Marcus Lucerco was awarded honorable mention. Scott Pickert, head coach for the Spartan team, presented the awards and gave credit for all the wrestlers who participated in this year’s successful season. The Second Grade presents ‘Something’s Musical’
The Ivy Stockwell Second Grade Showcase performance on Thursday night was Something’s Musical, with singers, dancers and instruments directed by Mr. Bill Hordinski. While these showcases are a delight to the parents and grandparents, the main idea is to teach the students something valuable. Thompson School District Accountability Advisory
The Public is invited to attend the meeting of the Thompson School District Accountability Advisory Committee (DAAC) at 6 p.m. March 9 at the Administration Building (Classroom 128), 800 South Taft Avenue, Loveland. The DAAC monitors school effectiveness plans and the district's accountability process.
Thompson School District seeks public input on budget
Like many public entities, the Thompson R2-J School District is facing a budget deficit for the 2010-11 school year. For the first time the district is seeking public input on where cost savings should be implemented. In a survey that went online this week, the district asks a dozen questions about where the cuts should be made. Donations needed for After Prom event
The Berthoud After Prom event committee is in need of donations. After prom is open to all juniors and seniors, not just those attending prom. The event provides a fun, safe, substance-free environment for juniors, seniors and their dates. The After Prom event will be held at 11:00 p.m. from Saturday, April 24 until 3:30 a.m. Sunday, April 25. Donations pay for the activities, entertainment, food, and raffle prizes.
