Reapportionment Commission Violates Constitution

December 2, 2011 The Reapportionment Commission, with a last minute never before seen map, has sent to the Supreme Court state legislative district maps dripping with political vindictiveness. Without regard to constitutional mandates (the very reason the Commission was directed by the Court to redraw the maps) the partisan majority rammed these maps through without allowing any discussion of other maps or even amendments. I say partisan majority because the chairman, who claimed to be ... Full Story

If you knew the new Newt

If you knew the new Newt

My Man Newt By Maureen Dowd In many ways, Newt is the perfect man. He knows how to buy good jewelry. He puts his wife ahead of his campaign. He’s so in touch with his feelings that he would rather close the entire federal government than keep his emotions bottled up. He’s confident enough to include a steamy sex scene in a novel. He understands that Paul Revere was warning about the British. Mitt Romney is a phony with gobs of hair gel. Newt Gingrich is a ... Full Story

Obama should veto Defense Authorization Bill

The Defense Authorization Bill before congress has provisions that remove long standing constitutional protections for Americans and is another assault on our individual rights. But during a plenary session on Wednesday, one question kept coming up: How can Republicans do a better job of talking about Occupy Wall Street? "I'm so scared of this anti-Wall Street effort. I'm frightened to death," said Frank ... Full Story

A Story of Fear, Intimidation and Threat in Walker’s Wisconsin

Nests of Snakes Revealed: A Story of Fear, Intimidation and Threat in Walker's Wisconsin By noise of rain Though I had never met Mary before, I messaged her when I saw that some rightwing Walker support groups had published her home address and phone number on Facebook. She was a Facebook "friend" through activist channels, so I figured I would let her know her info was made public. She already knew. They've posted her private info five times since summer, and have ... Full Story

Press Release WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Cory Gardner (R-CO) released the following statement on the national unemployment numbers for the month of November: "It was encouraging to see a dent made in our nation’s unemployment last month, but the jobless rate remains unacceptably high.
