Eagles Turn Tables on Mavs With OT Win of Their Own

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Missouri Mavericks, 3-2, in overtime at the Budweiser Events Center one night after the Mavs topped the Eagles in overtime in their own home. The game was the second of three in as many days between the two Turner Conference clubs. The first period was a physical affair with plenty of big hits, outdone only by the several big saves at each end of the ice. Despite 16 points by Zach Ruebesam and 13 by Greg Hutchins, the Spartans fell to the Huskies 59-44. The Spartans played well the second half, staying with in one point in the scoring. The loss drops the Berthoud to 12-6 overall and 7-3 in the 3A Patriot League. Thursday evening’s game was the final regular season contest at home of the 2010/11 season for the Lady Spartans. Spartans end losing streak with 22-point win By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer The Berthoud High boys basketball team stomped the Estes Park Bobcats 69-47 Friday evening in the Berthoud High gym. The win snapped a two-game losing streak and improved the Spartans record to 6-9 on the season and 4-3 in the 3A Patriot League. Junior guard Zach Ruebesam was the star of the game for Berthoud.
