Berthoud Soccer bests Silver Creek 2-1

Jano and Tavo Beltran each scored a goal in leading the Spartans to a 2-1 victory over Silver Creek,

Spartans 6, Roosevelt 40

The Spartans played shutout defense the second half and scored one touchdown. Unfortunately that was not enough to over come the 40 to 0 halftime score. The Raptors did not give the Berthoud Spartans much to celebrate in Berthoud’s Homecoming Game. Silver Creek dominated the game and Berthoud rarely had possession in Raptor territory. The Berthoud defense stopped Silver Creek inside the 20-yard-line on several occasions, but the Raptors made most of their touchdowns on big plays. Raptor Quarterback Austin Apodaca frequently found his receivers open for big gainers while Silver Creek defenders nearly shut down Berthoud’s passing game. ... Full Story

Spartans win third in a row with late touchdown By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer The Berthoud Spartan football team made their second trip of the season to the eastern plains on Friday night for a contest with the Fort Morgan Mustangs at Legion Field. The Spartans battled all game long and won with a late touchdown. The nail-biting 16-14 victory improves Berthoud to 3-2 on the season as they prepare to begin conference play next week. Boys Golf Team Fails to Qualify for State By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer The 3A Northern division Regional Golf Tournament began on a cool, windy Thursday morning at the Estes Park Golf Course. A small herd of Elk was kind enough to wait for the tournament to conclude before making their way onto the fifth fairway to munch on some foliage.
