Cheryl Ann Scott, 55, of Fort Lupton peacefully passed away on May 20, in her home. She was born on April 7, 1954, in Chicago to Richard and Beverly Bacus. Scott graduated from Broomfield High School in 1972 and also attended the Barnes Business School in Denver. Assisted by Pathways Hospice and her daughter, Dorothy, Lillian R. Meade traveled a gentle passage through death into the presence of her Lord on Monday, May 25. A native of New Jersey, Meade move to Hobe Sound, Fla., from Toms River, where she lived with her second husband, F. Tony Rodriguez, 51, of Berthoud passed away at McKee Medical Center on May 17.  He was born Jan. 22, 1958, in San Barbara, Mexico to Roman and Micaela (Castro) Rodriguez. Evelyn “Evee” Pfenning, 83, of Loveland, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 6, at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Born in rural Mead on Sept. 15, 1925, to Emanuel E. and Katherine Mary (Sterkel) Zoller, Pfenning attended the rural Red Rock School and then in 1934, the family moved east of Berthoud in Weld County, where she attended Sunny Side School through the eighth grade. Sam Withrow, 68 years young, passed away April 27 at his home in Berthoud. He is survived by his wife Christine, his only child Hope Withrow, and beloved siblings Bud, Paul, Rose, Dick, and Ruth. A celebration of Withrow’s life with family and friends will be held May 30 in Fullerton, Calif. A U.S. Navy burial ceremony will be conducted in San Diego at a later date.

Obituary: Melvin Brown

Melvin “Mel” Walter Brown of Johnstown died on April 24 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He was 83. He was born July 3, 1925 to Robert and Cora (Niven) Brown, on the family farm southwest of Johnstown. His father died in August 1941 of injuries sustained from a runaway team of horses, and his family moved into town after that.
