Concealed Carry Cowards

Concealed Carry Cowards

Are George Zimmerman and Michael Dunn "protecting" us? By Martha Rosenberg (about the author) The pro-gun lobby has successfully changed the gun violence argument from asking how mass shooters pass background checks and buy guns legally to why weren't there more guns around. Almost every mass shooter from Seung-Hui Cho (Virginia Tech), James Holmes (Aurora), Jared Loughner (Tucson) and Stephen Phillip Kazmierczak (Northern Illinois University) to the more recent shooters, Aaron Alexis ... Vote No on 241

Vote No on 241

Dear Editor, I am a fifth generation Larimer County native, one generation removed from the cattle business. I am concerned about Berthoud’s unneeded Growth Management Area (GMA) expansions and annexations outside of existing GMA boundaries. Berthoud’s current GMA is over 24,000 acres in size. Berthoud currently has 10,712 lots in some type of planning review (enough for a population of well over 30,000 people). The current GMA is large enough to make Berthoud similar in population size to ... Full Story

Greenwald on Clapper

Greenwald on Clapper

Inside the Mind of James Clapper By Glenn Greenwald I’m going to have a story published later today about a new document, but until then, this new interview with (and profile of) Director of National Intelligence James Clapper by the Daily Beast‘s Eli Lake is worth spending a few moments examining. Last week, Lake published one excerpt of his interview where Clapper admitted that the U.S. Government should have told the American people that the NSA was collecting their ... Full Story

Jesus Wants You To Buy An AR-15

Jesus Wants You To Buy An AR-15

This Week In Crazy  By Henry Decker #1 This week’s “winner” is retired lieutenant general and current Family Research Council vice president Jerry Boykin. Boykin, who was last seen on this list fawning over his image of Jesus Christ as a “man’s man” with “big bulging biceps” and a “thin waist,” has added another accessory to his fantasy Christ: An AR-15! “The Lord is a warrior and in Revelation 19 is says when he comes back, he’s coming back as what? Haworth Annexation

Haworth Annexation

To the Editor, As a citizen of the Berthoud community, I am increasingly concerned about the issues arising in our town. I am particularly disappointed in the Town’s process that led to the annexation of the Haworth property west of County Road 19. This property was outside of Berthoud’s Comprehensive Plan for growth when the Town Board enticed the owners to apply for annexation. The issue that I have with this annexation has nothing to do with the family who owns that land. To me, it is ... Full Story

Badge, license to kill

Badge, license to kill

Why Do Cops Who Shoot Unarmed People Get Their Guns Back? By Kevin Mathews  What happens to police officers who shoot unarmed citizens while on duty? More often than not, nothing. Even in the most egregious examples of misconduct and bad policing, officers are found not guilty in court (if they even stand trial in the first place) and are free to return to duty… re-armed to potentially cause more harm in the future. This pattern is a serious miscarriage of justice. By refusing to ... Full Story
