Why do we have Bullies like Christie

Why do we have Bullies like Christie

Why the Infatuation with Bullies Like Chris Christie? Christie reveals a dark side of our society -- a public enchanted by his tough guy antics and the press who encourages his sadism.   Photo Credit: AFP January 11, 2014  | If the media had even a trace of independence, the instant Chris Christie declared like a dainty blossom trampled roughly, “I am not a bully,” the throng of reporters would have screamed, “Liar” in a single voice and hurled their cameras, pens, notepads, ... Gun Fail LI

Welcome to Lowe's! How may I shoot you? (P.S. 23 kids accidentally shot last week) GunFAIL L  By David Waldman We have an extraordinarily long list this time around, and it took extra time to compile it and sort through it, which accounts for its late publication. New Year's Eve, like July 4th, is like Black Friday for GunFAIL. Brand-new guns are given as gifts for Christmas (at least one of which went off and shot the gift giver this week), a little extra drinking is going on, the kids are ... Full Story

Christie just doing New Jersey Stuff

Christie just doing New Jersey Stuff

Hey, it's just New Jersey stuff!   By Eugene Elander As a one-time New Jersey resident, I can't say that I am surprised by the bizarre "punish Fort Lee by causing gridlock" tactic perpetrated knowingly by top staff of Governor Chris Christie, with the complicity of their friends at the Port Authority.  That's just a typical example of what I learned during my tenure in the Garden State; it's called New Jersey Stuff -- and if those outside of New Jersey have trouble understanding ... Voice against Berthoud Annexation

Voice against Berthoud Annexation

Dear Editor: The Town Administrator and Town Board made a huge mistake to pursue and pass the Haworth annexation in the face of strong public opposition. Next Tuesday they have an opportunity to correct their mistake. Here is a thumbnail history of how the Town has handled this issue, despite a clear consensus in 2007 that the Town should not expand west into rural Larimer County. First, on October 23rd, 2012, at the urging of Town staff, the Town Trustees opposed a Larimer County Rural Land ... Full Story

Drone pilot speaks out

Drone pilot speaks out

I worked on the US drone program. The public should know what really goes on Few of the politicians who so brazenly proclaim the benefits of drones have a real clue how it actually works (and doesn't) By Heather Linebaugh Whenever I read comments by politicians defending the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Predator and Reaper program – aka drones – I wish I could ask them a few questions. I'd start with: "How many women and children have you seen incinerated by a Hellfire missile?" And: "How ... Full Story

According to Conservatives, Freedom Of Speech is Only

According to Conservatives, Freedom Of Speech is Only for Bigotry

posted by Ryan Denson In the middle of all this Phil Robertson controversy, I just have one quick question: Where were all these freedom of speech-loving Republicans when Martin Bashir was forced to resign from MSNBC? They certainly have jumped on the Constitutional bandwagon when it suits their political purpose. So after Phil Robertson was suspended from the hit A&E show ‘Duck Dynasty’ after making obscene, offensive and tasteless comments about blacks and gays, Conservatives, and ... Full Story

ALEC Members won’t support democracy

ALEC Members won’t support democracy

ALEC Members Refuse to Sign a Pledge Supporting Democracy   It is fair to assume that America is host to an incredibly ignorant population who know very little about their government and how it affects their daily lives. That sad fact was exposed in a brilliant 2008 book revealing that only 20% of the population can name the three branches of government and 49% think a president has the authority to suspend the Constitution. However, the population’s ignorance of their government aside, it ... Full Story
