Problem solving the TSD way
To the Editor, I have a list of steps for solving problems. Here is how the TSD (Loveland) school board measured up on Wednesday night: Identify the problem. Student achievement is too low. What does that mean? Not discussed. How serious it is? Not discussed. How did the problem originate? Not discussed. What do the ... Full Story

Politics and National Policy
Deficit Reduction Declines as Policy Priority Just Half of Democrats Rate Deficit as ‘Top Priority For the first time since Barack Obama took office in 2009, deficit reduction has slipped as a policy priority among the public. Overall, 63% say reducing the budget deficit should be a top priority for Congress and the president this year, down from 72% a year ago. Most of the decline has come among Democrats: Only about half of Democrats – 49% – view deficit reduction as a top priority, ... Full Story
“Nine out of the 10 poorest states are Red
Pro-Democrat group says 9 of the 10 poorest states are Republican The partisan blogosphere is filled with arguments over whether liberal or conservative policies are better for states. No matter what is proposed -- cutting the sales tax, raising the minimum wage, etc. -- someone can always come up with a state to cite as an example of why it's a good (or bad) idea. But we were struck by this claim posted by the pro-Democrat group Occupy Democrats on Facebook: "If Republican economic ... Full Story
Obamacare horror stories
This blogger smoked out Obamacare lies by another traditional media newspaper By Egberto Willies Common knowledge to those who follow the ins and outs of Obamacare is that there is an industry out there to destroy it at all cost. The traditional media has been the major conduit of the lies and misinformation. Corporate traditional media continues to mislead and misinform. It isn’t only the smaller media outlets that are generating the barrage of misinformation. CBS News whose ‘60 ... Full Story
Why do we have Bullies like Christie
Why the Infatuation with Bullies Like Chris Christie? Christie reveals a dark side of our society -- a public enchanted by his tough guy antics and the press who encourages his sadism. Photo Credit: AFP January 11, 2014 | If the media had even a trace of independence, the instant Chris Christie declared like a dainty blossom trampled roughly, “I am not a bully,” the throng of reporters would have screamed, “Liar” in a single voice and hurled their cameras, pens, notepads, ... Gun Fail LI
Welcome to Lowe's! How may I shoot you? (P.S. 23 kids accidentally shot last week) GunFAIL L By David Waldman We have an extraordinarily long list this time around, and it took extra time to compile it and sort through it, which accounts for its late publication. Brand-new guns are given as gifts for Christmas (at least one of which went off and shot the gift giver this week), a little extra drinking is going on, the kids are ... Full Story
Christie just doing New Jersey Stuff
Hey, it's just New Jersey stuff! By Eugene Elander As a one-time New Jersey resident, I can't say that I am surprised by the bizarre "punish Fort Lee by causing gridlock" tactic perpetrated knowingly by top staff of Governor Chris Christie, with the complicity of their friends at the Port Authority. That's just a typical example of what I learned during my tenure in the Garden State; it's called New Jersey Stuff -- and if those outside of New Jersey have trouble understanding ... Full Story

Voice against Berthoud Annexation
Dear Editor: The Town Administrator and Town Board made a huge mistake to pursue and pass the Haworth annexation in the face of strong public opposition. Next Tuesday they have an opportunity to correct their mistake. Here is a thumbnail history of how the Town has handled this issue, despite a clear consensus in 2007 that the Town should not expand west into rural Larimer County. First, on October 23rd, 2012, at the urging of Town staff, the Town Trustees opposed a Larimer County Rural Land ... Full Story
