Just stop that … biosolid
By Scott Crossen September 24, 2012 “Nothing ever becomes real, ‘til it is experience.” John Keats Autumn is hiding beyond tomorrow. Once again, it’s that time of year when the countryside is the place to be – to take in the changing colors, relax and breathe good clean air. Unfortunately, it is also the time of year when some landowners choose to spread toxic sewage sludge across their acreage because it is a cheap alternative to ... Full Story
Romney Budget increases the deficit
These two videos clearly show why the "Ryan Budget" does not decrease the deficit or the national debt. Robert Reich Explains The Romney / Ryan Budget Plan This Lady Isn't Even Trying To Make Paul Ryan Look Dumb
Mitt doesn’t get it
The REAL "Entitlement" Programs Benefit the Rich By Mike Kirchubel (about the author) opednews.com Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment Insurance are not gifts from the wealthy to the workers of America. We pay our own way. The real "entitlement" programs are the ones we workers fund for the benefit of the rich. Do nothing congressman: Cory Gardner
If you were watching the Rocky Mountain PBS "Colorado State of Mind" Forum on Friday evening, then you also heard Congressman Cory Gardner state, "Nobody understands agriculture better than I do." As a farmer in Weld County, it's not just the arrogance of that statement that offends me - it's saying that and then letting the Farm Bill expire that really bothers me. When I traveled to Washington DC earlier this month to talk to members of Congress about passing this ... Full Story
Paul Ryan is not a great intellectual
Recently we were introduced to a 2005 recording of Paul Ryan addressing the Atlas Society, apparently a fan club for Ayn Rand. In it he outlines his belief that Social Security should be privatized and turned over to Wall Street. The amazing part of his comments was that he claimed that whenever he had a legislative issue that, he would return to Rand’s 1957 novel, Atlas Shrugged and re-read all 64 pages of John Galt’s radio address. Do you find it as ... Full Story
Don’t forget your ‘neighborhood shopping
With all the national campaign ads flooding our airwaves and media streams, don’t forget there are important local races going on too. In fact, these local, often unheralded, campaigns are where the daily impact on our own personal lives is most felt in the future – where the rubber hits the road. In Larimer County, we have historically embraced strong, conservative traditional values of family, friends, individual freedoms, free enterprise, and quality, locally controlled education to ... Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor, I'm writing to support Larimer County Commissioner Tom Donnelly in his campaign for re-election. Donnelly has done a great job, providing great constituent services for the citizens. He goes out of his way to listen to the needs of the people. He holds monthly citizens meetings in multiple locations in his district, plus he goes to lots of public meetings. He's also provided great leadership with balancing the county budget. I would definitely recommend Tom Donnelly for ... Full Story
Romney: another big lie
4 Pinocchios for a truncated, 14-year-old Obama clip Just as we have not been very impressed about many of the Obama campaign’s claims about Mitt Romney’s business career many years ago, we were not initially that impressed with the Romney campaign’s effort to dredge up a 14-year-old quote to demonstrate that President Obama wants to “redistribute wealth.” The clip was so old — he was just a state senator — and the context was rather ... Growing into liberalism
By Stephanie Rayburn Growing into political maturity I grew up Republican. My whole family is Republican. I grew up around my grandparents hearing slurs like "liberal idiots" and "lazy welfare recipients" even at the same time that they demonstrated how to give generously to those who need it. I listened to Rush Limbaugh -- admired him even because I was young and impressionable and I didn't yet know about how adults twist the truth for their personal benefit (especially when it ...
