Marilyn Elaine White, 59, of Berthoud, CO, died on February 10, 2010 at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. She was born on October 7, 1950 in Greeley, CO, to Chester Herman and Agnes Marian (Anderson) Stevens. Marilyn graduated from Loveland High School. Michael S. Patterson, 60, of Berthoud, Colorado died January 28, 2010 at Longmont United Hospital. He was born April 14, 1949 in Sheridan, Wyo. to Edward and Virginia (Wood) Patterson. Michael married Rena’ Laubach on September 15, 1972 in Wolf Point, Mont. They moved to Berthoud in 1974. Michael was a superintendent for Swinerton Builders of Denver. February 19, 1942 – January 21, 2010 Doug Nichols, Ph. D., paleontologist and Berthoud resident, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 21, 2010, at the age of 67. Born in Jamaica, Long Island, N.Y., he was the son of Kenneth C. and Beatrice O. Nichols. Doug lived in Long Island, N.Y. and New Jersey while growing up. BERT chooses not to do business locally

Editorial Opinion by Gary Wamsley Continuing a policy of not supporting local business unless you are a member of the Berthoud Economic Resource Team (BERT), local web site developers were eliminated from consideration for building the BERT/Town web site. The contract for developing the un-needed but expensive web site will go to an out of town contractor. Obituary: Marion Elizabeth (Brehmer) Andersen

Marion Anderson passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2009 at Hospice Care Center of Boulder/Broomfield County in Louisville after a short illness. She was born May 24, 1936 to John and Rosie Brehmer in Bancroft, Neb., the fifth child born to the family, which grew by three more children over the next several years. Jack R. Kidd, 77, of Berthoud was born in Utah to Henry and Leola Kidd.
