CNA Training and Internship Program

Larimer County Workforce Center

Are you interested in getting your CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Certification? Does the thought of working in the healthcare field and helping patients excite you? The Larimer County Workforce Center will offer the Health Training and Internship Program (Health TIPS) starting in June 2010. The Health TIPS program consists of CNA training, the opportunity to receive your CNA certification, and an internship in the healthcare field.

Participants will gain valuable skills and understanding about becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. After successful completion of the CNA training, individuals will be able to participate in an internship for on-the-job training. Classroom instruction will cover basic nursing assistant procedures and skills, restorative services, general household activities, patient care, and safety and emergency care. With a CNA certification, individuals can work as a certified nursing assistant immediately or use the training as a prerequisite for admission into a nursing program.

After successful completion of the ten day CNA training, participants will be invited to participate in a Reverse Job Fair where they will meet one-on-one with local employers who have open internships. Participants can select an internship that best meets their future goals.

To be eligible for Health TIPS, you must meet ALL of the following eligibility requirements:

• Parenting a child under the age of 18. • Annual household income less than $75,000 for the 12-month period prior to enrollment. • Larimer County Resident. • Lawful presence in the United States. • The ability to work at least 32 hours per week.
