Crystal Fire Community Meeting Scheduled

April 3,  1:45 p.m.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office will host a community meeting tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the Big Thompson Elementary School at 7702 West Highway 34 to update evacuated residents on the status of the fire and the evacuations.  We anticipate having some preliminary damage assessments to discuss at that meeting.  Representatives from the American Red Cross and United Way will also be on hand to provide information and assistance.

This meeting will be open only to those residents evacuated from the fire area.   Media will be briefed separately at the previously scheduled briefing at 6:00 p.m. at the Masonville store.

A short time ago, roadblocks in the fire area were moved closer into the fire opening up some areas that were previously closed.  The Masonville roadblock has been moved to County Road 27 and Bear Lair Road.  The Stove Prairie roadblock has been moved to County Road 27 and County Road 44H.  The Redstone Canyon roadblock remains the same at County Road 25E and County Road 38E.

The evacuation center at Cache La Poudre Elementary School in Laporte has been closed.  Evacuated residents should be directed to the evacuation center at Big Thompson Elementary School in Loveland.

Late this morning there were some retardant drops completed but were suspended due to the weather.  Snow continues to fall over the fire area which is helping to slow the fire.
