Press Release: December 6, 2011
On December 5, 2011, Gordon Rae Reed, DOB: 093089, of Aurora, was arrested on suspicion of Aggravated Robbery (Felony 3). Mr. Reed was the final suspect of four individuals arrested as a result of a drug deal gone bad that occurred on March 29, 2010 at a home in the Horsetooth Reservoir area.
On March 29, 2010, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Poudre Valley Hospital, that a 19-year-old male had arrived at the hospital via a private vehicle and was being treated for a gunshot wound to the left buttocks and lower abdomen.
Deputies and investigators subsequently determined that four men from the Denver area had come to Larimer County with the intent to steal a pound of marijuana which they had arranged to buy from two Larimer County men.
The four men met with two juveniles, who introduced two of the men from Denver to the two Larimer County men willing to sell a pound of marijuana.
During the drug deal, one of the Denver area men grabbed the marijuana and attempted to leave the residence. The two Larimer County men struggled with the man who had taken the marijuana. The second Denver man then allegedly pulled a gun threatening the two Larimer County men. Subsequently one of the Larimer County men was shot.
After the shooting, the two Denver area men allegedly forced the two juveniles to leave with them and fled the scene, along with the remaining two men from Denver who were in a separate vehicle.
Ultimately, investigators were able to arrest Erick Lamar Williams Berrien Jr., DOB: 010291, from Parker, Colorado, Brandon McClendon, DOB: 031390, of Denver, Colorado and Connor Meek, DOB: 090991, of Englewood, Colorado, in addition to Reed. These arrests occurred during the last year as the case progressed.
Berrien and McClendon were both charged with two counts of 2nd Degree Kidnapping (Felony 3), four counts of Felony Menacing (Felony 5), and Aggravated Robbery (Felony 3). Berrien was also charged with 1st Degree Assault (Felony 3). McClendon was also charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder (Felony 2). Meeks was charged with Aggravated Robbery (Felony 3), and Criminal Conspiracy (Felony 4).
