Letter to the Editor on Candidate for Larimer County Sheriff

Larimer County has a very important election this fall. The current Sheriff is term-limited, so we the citizens must elect a replacement and choose someone not just to protect us, but lead us and effectively run the largest elected office in the county. We need someone who has experience, education and proven dedication to law enforcement. We must determine for ourselves what qualifications each candidate possesses. Do they have actual experience as a peace officer? Have they served in a leadership position within law enforcement? Are they dedicated to serve the citizens of Larimer County? Looking at the track record of each candidate, the only one that meets all the criteria we require is Justin Smith. He has over 20 years of experience with Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. His experience spans all the divisions of the agency and he has been in command positions for the last decade. Justin has demonstrated his commitment to the community by serving on a variety of volunteer boards. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in criminal justice and he is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy. Clearly, Justin Smith is the only candidate prepared to be our next Sheriff.

Sincerely,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hillmann
