Manhunt for Armed Fugitive

On March 30, 2017, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Larimer County Sheriff’s Office investigators attempted to arrest Adam Keith Fulford (10/05/1983) of Loveland in the 800 block of East Drake Road in Fort Collins.  Fulford was known to have outstanding felony arrest warrants for Failure to Appear Controlled Substance / Special Offender / Firearms and False Information to a Pawn Broker.  Fulford ran from investigators and was pursued, but not apprehended.  Fort Collins Police Services officers responded to assist and set up a perimeter.  A FCPS K9 was also deployed, but the track was not successful.

Investigators made contact with residents of an apartment in the 800 block of East Drake Road where Fulford was staying and were given permission to search the apartment. Investigators found firearms and suspicious devices inside the residence belonging to Fulford.  The residents of that apartment building were evacuated as a precaution and the Larimer County Regional Bomb Squad responded to the scene to investigate the suspicious devices.

FCPS investigators saw a taxi leaving the area and followed it westbound toward College Avenue.  The taxi turned southbound on College Avenue and ran a red light.  Investigators continued to follow the taxi into Loveland, westbound on Highway 34, northbound on North County Road 27, and eastbound on West County Road 38E. At approximately 8:34 p.m., the taxi reached Horsetooth Mountain Park and the driver jumped from the vehicle as it was still moving. Some investigators stopped to help the driver while others continued to follow the suspect who was then driving the taxi.  The adult male driver had been shot one time in an extremity so investigators rendered aid until EMS arrived.

LCSO deputies deployed spike strips in front of the taxi on West County Road 38E west of Centennial Drive.  At approximately 8:38 p.m., the suspect crashed the taxi and ran on foot.  A perimeter was established and roads were blocked around Horsetooth Reservoir as follows:  West County Road 38E at Centennial Drive, West County Road 38E at Lakeview Drive, and Centennial Drive one-mile north of West County Road 38E.

LCSO, FCPS, and Larimer County Parks searched for Fulford in the area around Horsetooth Reservoir and an Everbridge Emergency Notification was sent to 1,100 contacts (not homes) advising them law enforcement was in the area searching for an armed subject.

At approximately 2:42 a.m. on March 31, 2017, law enforcement suspended the search at Horsetooth Reservoir when investigative leads in the area had been exhausted.  LCSO investigators will continue to follow investigative leads until Fulford is located and taken into custody.

Adam Keith Fulford (10/05/1983) is 6’02” tall, weighs 225 pounds, has a shaved head (blonde hair), and stubble facial hair.  A recent (03/12/2017) booking photo of Fulford is attached.

The taxi driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
