To honor great educators in the Thompson School District, and in the spirit of celebrating community and education, the Thompson Education Foundation is hosting the 2009 Educators of the Year awards breakfast on April 3, 2009. A first of its kind in the area, this event will be the culmination of nominations for the Educators of the Year from the entire community.
The online nomination process is open to everyone in the community. Nominations begin Feb. 11 and end March 12, 2009 on Thompson Education Foundation’s Web site, http://fc.thompson.k12.co.us/~tef/. There will be four nomination areas for educators and educational support staff in the Thompson School District: Teacher of the Year; Principal of the Year; Classified Employee of the Year; and Administrative, Professional, or Technical (APT) Employee of the Year.
“We are looking for individuals who stand out and excel at what they do. We want to know the specifics of what makes an educator great, be it a teacher, custodian, principal, or anyone involved with the education of our children,” said Resource Development Associate Mechelle Martz-Mayfield.
The Thompson Education Foundation Board of Directors feels that getting the community involved in nominating educational professionals in the district creates a stronger connection and awareness of what is occurring in schools, the district and education.
Thompson Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has supported educational opportunities within the Thompson School District for 20 years.
