The trend of the police state in the United States continues as Oakland police cause serious injury to marcher. Meanwhile Herman Cain says that the protesters should “Go Home and Get A Job.” Cain’s remarks illustrate the classic attitude of the haves verses the have-nots, perhaps best illustrated by a classic remark attributed to Marie Antoinette whose famous quote, “Let them eat cake.” is the classic comment on the lack of understanding of the problems of the common people. While the queen probably did not actually utter those words, the example is still valid. The political right continues to attack the the occupy movement and attempts to paint it in a negative image.
What has happened to the right of assembly and free speech? I wonder if all the defenders of the second amendment are concerned about the attack on the first amendment or is it that people wear blinders and pick just one of the 10 amendments and not the whole bill of rights as important.
