Don L. Ganter, Sr.

July 28, 1923 – May 25, 2010


Don L. Ganter, Sr. of Berthoud, passed away May 25, 2010 at Longmont United Hospital.  He was 86.

Don was born on July 28, 1923 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Lawrence and Alice (Verdow) Ganter.

Don served in the US Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945 with the 728 Bombardment Squadron of the 482 Bombardment Group.

On June 26, 1943 he married Jo Huber in Fort Collins, Colorado.  They moved to Colorado in 1969.

Don worked in retail sales his entire career.  He was a member of Westview Presbyterian Church, and VFW #2601 of Longmont.  He enjoyed reading, playing cards, bowling, fishing and making models.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Gayle Ganter in 1955.

Don is survived by his wife, Jo Ganter of Berthoud; a son Don Ganter Jr. of Wisconsin; a daughter Lynn Peterson and husband Wayne of Berthoud; a sister Marjorie Ganter of Wisconsin; three grandchildren Robby Peterson, Robin Billado and husband Craig and Tina Peterson and husband Tony and eight great grandchildren Nathan, Josie, Noah, Lacey, Reese, Joey, Dominic and Anthony.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM and the funeral service to follow at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment at 1:30 PM, Sat.
