Elizabeth Katherine “Betty” Rose, 82, of Berthoud passed away quietly at her home on Friday, March 13, 2009.

Survivors include her husband, Russell F. Rose, Jr. of Berthoud; daughters, Kathy Athens of Littleton, and Paula Madok and husband, George, of Evergreen; and four grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Athens, and James and Caroline Madok.

Her parents, Robert and Eleanor Shaw; son, Russell Francis “Rusty” Rose, III; son-in-law, Bill Athens; and three sisters, Roberta Egan, Mary Shaw (age 6), and Betty’s infant twin, all preceded her in death.

She was born May 12, 1926, in Norwalk, Conn., to Robert and Eleanor (Purcell) Shaw. She graduated from high school in 1945 and later attended a local business school. While working at Pitney-Bowes, Betty met Russell Rose at a YMCA dance. The couple was married July 15, 1950, in Darien, Conn.
