Obituary: George D. Huff

George D. Huff
(October 10, 1923 – March 3, 2011)

George “Bud” Dean Huff was born October 10, 1923 to George and Ethel Huff in Oxford, Nebr. Bud passed away on March 3, 2011 at the age of 87 at Sierra Vista in Loveland, Colo.

Bud enlisted in the U.S. Army in February 1943. On July 14, 1943 he married Clara “Pauline” Harrold in Phillipsburg, Kan.

In August of 1943 Bud left New York for England to fight in WWII. Bud was in the 5th Infantry Division. He landed in Normandy in July 1944 and was severely injured in Metz, France. He returned to the U.S. and was medically discharged at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital.

He lived with his family in Nebraska and worked for the post office and then owned a filling station. In 1953, Bud and family moved to Wyoming and he worked on the railroad. After being injured on the railroad he did carpentry work.

In 1964 Bud and family moved to Berthoud, Colorado where he continued to work in carpentry and had a farm. In 1981 Bud and his wife moved to Loveland, Colorado. They belonged to the Lifebridge Christian Church.

He enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, and carpentry.

Bud is survived by wife Pauline, Son Gary Huff, Daughter Judy and Michael Emery, Son David and Sharon Huff, Daughter Paula and Dave Shea, 10 Grandchildren, and 15 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by Son-in-Law Wayne Sorgatz and Grandson Matthew Sorgatz. Bud was the last of 10 children of Ethel and George Huff to pass away.

Funeral service, Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., LifeBridge Christian Church, Longmont. Interment, Resthaven Memory Gardens. Viewing at the church prior to funeral service.
