Editor’s note

Gertrude Becker’s relatives  still living in Berthoud are Joyce Wilson and Gary Wamsley. There are also several Peak descendants still living in Loveland. Ed Peak, Lyle Peak and Edna Peak Barager were half brother’s and sister. Nellie Peak was nee Puntney, a once prominent Loveland family. Nellie’s first husband was Frank Peak, who, as night marshall, was shot and killed in the line of duty in Loveland in 1915. The Loveland Police Museum is named in his honor. After Frank’s untimely death, Nell married his cousin, Herbert Benjamin Peak.
