Obituary: Marion Elizabeth (Brehmer) Andersen

Marion Anderson passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2009 at Hospice Care Center of Boulder/Broomfield County in Louisville after a short illness.

She was born May 24, 1936 to John and Rosie Brehmer in Bancroft, Neb., the fifth child born to the family, which grew by three more children over the next several years. Anderson was very active in school growing up, being a cheerleader and homecoming queen and graduating from Bancroft High School.

She married Robert Eugene Andersen on Nov. 7, 1954. They farmed in the Bancroft area until 1962 when the family moved to Longmont. In 1966 they moved to Berthoud, renting a farmhouse east of town until 1971 when they bought a home in town.

Anderson held several jobs over the years with her last job being an engineering secretary at Hewlett-Packard, retiring in 1990 after 21 years of employment. She was active in bowling leagues and playing softball. She loved music, dancing, Lawrence Welk, old Elvis movies and most of all she loved her family. Anderson was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She always welcomed others into her home. She was a great cook, always cooking for an army of people and sending the leftovers home with the entire clan!

Anderson was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons Steve (Janet) of Windsor, Bruce (Cheri) of Firestone, Chris (Sherry) of Berthoud, Todd (Marcia) of Greeley; grandchildren Jessica (Jeremy) Thomas, Joshua (Amber) Andersen, Travis (Susie) Stewart, Steven Andersen, David and Erik Andersen, Natoshia Murray, Wyatt Murray, Miranda Cruz; great-grandchildren Jordyn, Dylan and Aydan Thomas, Drayden and Chandler Stewart, Claire Andersen, Nolan Andersen, David Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Nov., 10:30 a.m. at Viegut Funeral Home, Loveland. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Berthoud immediately following the service. Viewing Monday 5 to 8 p.m. at Viegut Funeral Home and one hour prior to services.
