Michael W. Betcher, 67, of Berthoud passed away on Aug. 29, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 2, 1941 in Riverside, Calif. to Orlan Henry and Rose Adel (nee Wahlin) Betcher.

He graduated from high school and served in the U.S. Navy for over 19 years. He was a long haul truck driver for 19 years. He loved traveling and was in all 48 continental states and many countries overseas. He was an avid fisherman and loved playing many sports.

He lived in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and then Shell Knob, Mo., for 23 years.  He moved to Berthoud to be near his daughter Michele and her husband Sean.

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Bean, Longmont, Brenda Heussmann, Firestone, Michele Visger, Berthoud, Jeanne Christine Carboneau, Sabattus, Maine, Lynn-Raye Hairston, Norfolk, Va.; sister Barbara Barkiem, Winona, Minn.; 22 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Bordeau; and the love of his life Ethel Glenn on Dec. 20, 2006. They had been together 23 years.

Cremation has taken place. No services scheduled. Viegut Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
