Ruth B. Luce of Longmont, Colo. died December 23, 2010 at the Peaks Care Center in Longmont. She was 86.
Ruth was born on September 6, 1924 in Stratford, Connecticut to Hugh S. and Margaret (Spencer) Bailie.
After dating all throughout high school, Ruth married William Raymond “Bill” Luce in Elkton, Maryland on February 27, 1943. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before his death in 2006. The couple made their home and raised their family in Stratford until moving to Berthoud, Colorado in 1974, and to Longmont in 2000.
Ruth was a homemaker who cared for her family. She enjoyed doing the things a mother does, sewing, cooking and just taking care of family responsibilities. She also enjoyed the time she could spend reading and doing puzzles.
Mrs. Luce was preceded in death by her parent, her husband Bill, a daughter, Susan Luce who passed away in 2006.
She is survived by a son, Craig Luce and his wife, Claire of Oxford, Connecticut; a daughter, Sharon Abernathy of Longmont; and five grandchildren: Timothy McNeill of Denver, CO; Kimberly Schuler and her husband, Paul of Highlands Ranch, CO; Brian McNeill of Denver, CO; Michael Luce of Naugatuck, CT; and Jason Luce and his wife Joanne of Naugatuck, CT. Nine great grandchildren also survive her.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street in Longmont, CO. Cremation services were entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
